Chapter 330
Miriam would be lying if she said she wasn’t mad. The two traitors had promised to search for Teresa together with her, yet after finding her, those two guys didn’t even bother to let her know.
Benny retorted, “If I remember correctly, at first it was only me and Jonathan who actually looked for Teresa. Didn’t you say Teresa messaged you, told you she was doing okay, and then you said you wouldn’t look for her anymore?”
Miriam clicked her tongue and said, “That’s not the same thing at all, don’t twist it. Just hurry up and give me Teresa’s number.”
Benny seemed a bit at a loss. “If you have something to say, I can relay it for you, all right? I promised Teresa that I wouldn’t give out her number. If I go back on my word, I’ll lose her.”
Miriam fell silent for a few seconds. “Alright. I won’t call her. Just tell me, is Teresa really doing okay?”
“She seems alright,” Benny replied.
“Really?” But Miriam still wanted to see for herself. She wanted to see with her own eyes how Teresa was doing, to give her a hug, and talk to her about everything she’d been holding in.
In Everport. Teresa glanced at the calendar–June 13th was almost here. That was Miriam’s birthday, and Teresa had circled the date to remind herself.
As it happened, Jonathan had asked her to come to his office, so she thought she’d ask him to pass on the birthday present she had bought for Miriam.
Teresa said, “I got Miriam a watch for her birthday. Could you give it to her for me? And don’t tell her I’m staying here. I don’t want to interfere with her dating Edward.”
Jonathan frowned. The watch Teresa bought for Miriam cost approximately the same as the one she had given to him. This meant that, in her mind, he and Miriam were of equal importance.
He took out his phone and checked the official prices. It turned out that his watch was actually two thousand less than Miriam’s. Jonathan’s face darkened instantly. “Why can’t you give it to her yourself? Do you really plan never to go back to Nareigh?”
“Just help me give it to her, will you?” Teresa said. “And here, this is the money for the Porsche you bought me. I transferred it from another account to this card.”
Jonathan pushed the card back towards her. “Take it. Don’t make me shout at you.”
Teresa shook her head. “A few million might not mean much to you at present, but given the current state of our relationship, it just doesn’t feel right.
Only then did Teresa ask Jonathan why he had called her to the company, and what exactly he wanted her there for.
Jonathan said, “You’ve already quit your job, right? If you don’t want to go back to Nareigh, just come and work at Apex Group. I’ll arrange an easy job for you.”
Teresa shook her head. “I’ll handle my own job search. Thanks.”
Jonathan stared at her, clearly confused. “Aren’t the Teresouth Group dividends enough for you? Why bother taking a teaching job?”
