Benny said, “Miriam was hit by a car.”

Teresa tightened her grip on the phone. She didn’t want to explain anything to Benny. “I’m booking a flight back to Nareigh right now.”

Just because Teresa hadn’t seen Miriam or told her where she was didn’t mean she didn’t care about her.
