Chapter 347
Chapter 347
Teresa froze, looking down at her belly. Her feelings were complicated. She was already fifteen weeks pregnant. She was so curious that she asked about the baby’s gender today. She just wanted to be prepared.
The morning sickness, her cravings for food, and even her gut feeling were all the same as when she was pregnant with Michael.
It was pretty obvious what Rebecca meant.
Before Teresa could say anything, Jennifer chimed in, “A boy? Seriously? Another boy? Give me the report. Rebecca, are you sure you didn’t get it wrong?”
Rebecca chuckled, “Two sons! Great! You don’t have to worry about her safety or anyone in the family who favors boys over girls.”
But as Rebecca spoke, there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.
Jennifer said, “My sister and I were both hoping for a girl. The first one is a boy. Girls are just easier.”
Rebecca sighed, “Jennifer, that’s not fair. Just because we went to an all–girls‘ school doesn’t mean you can be biased against boys. It will be your sister’s child, anyway.”
Jennifer said, “I’m not biased against boys, Rebecca, you’ve got it wrong. I just think girls are better.”
Then Jennifer paused for a second.
She added, “Having two boys is really tough. My sister’s going to have a hard time.
“If she still lives here by herself with two little boys. I don’t know how she’ll manage everything.”
That was what Jennifer really wanted to say.
“Hannah, are you done?” Teresa snapped, not caring if it would embarrass Jennifer, “It is my kid, whether it is a boy or girl. I’ll raise them myself. It’s not your business. Don’t forget what you promised me. If you can’t keep your word, we’re done.”
Jennifer murmured, “You…”
Rebecca asked, picking up on the tension between them, “What’s going on with you two?”
“It’s nothing.” Jennifer sighed, rubbing her forehead, “My little sister is reckless again. Sorry you had to bear with us, Rebecca.”
Rebecca gave up. “Teresa, make sure you eat well and keep a healthy diet. After you get back to Nareigh, let your sister give you a checkup. You’ll probably start showing soon, so take care of yourself and watch your step.”
She added, “After your two boys grow up, ask them to give their bastard dad a good beating. Seriously, what kind of man doesn’t take care of his kids?”
Rebecca always thought the kids‘ dad didn’t want them and refused to take responsibility.
Jennifer tried to fan the flames. “Forget about dads, These days, women can raise kids just fine on their own.”
Teresa said, “Good. If you two want to be childfree, that’s your business. I just hope you can stick to it.”
Jennifer said, “I haven’t been back in a long time either. I bought her something around New Year’s Eve, but I was too busy to visit her.”
