Chapter 395
After paying the bill, Teresa left the restaurant and still ended up at a bar it was not the one from last time, but somewhere
She couldn’t drink, so she just sat there with her juice, watching everyone else party. It was her way of passing time, better than lying awake alone Honestly, seeing all thate couples together wasn’t so bad,
“Hey there. All by yourself?” someone struck up a conversation with her.
guy with bleached hair. “I’m
“Beat it.” Teresa snapped, sipping her juice and lost in her own sad memories. She shot an impatient look at the scrawny guy divorced with two kids.”
“Huh, that’s interesting. Maybe I’ll go get my boss over here,” he said, not backing off
Teresa recognized that voice right away. She turned and saw the same greasy guy who’d hassled her at Live Bar, the one Jonathan had decked
“So it really is you. It took me long enough to catch you again.” Duncan swaggered over. Teresa had no interest in another some. The less trouble, the better.
She didn’t want to embarrass herself or her hometown, so she tried to play it down. “Sir, I’m just a divorced woman with two kids. Cut me some slack, will you?”
“Cut you some slack?” Duncan was a regular in places like this. He just grinned and threw an arm around Teresa’s shoulder. “Where’s your boyfriend? The one who punched me last time. He really let you end up divorced with two kids, huh?”
“He just

Teresa went back to her seat, but Duncan was already gone. Realizing it wasn’t safe to stick around, she paid her bill and got ready to leave
“Hey,” the bartender called out, handing her a glass of bright red juice. “Fresh watermelon juice, on the house. It’ll help you cool off”
Teresa took a couple of sips. “Thanks,” she said, slipping him a small tip before heading out
She’d barely walked a few minutes when her mouth suddenly went dry and her vision started to spin.
She struggled desperately, her face buzzing as if she’d just been slapped. In her ear, she heard a nasty voice. “You think you can turn me down? Let’s see how I deal with you.”
The next thing she knew, screeching brakes cut through the haze, and when Teresa came to, she was already in Jonathan’s car.
She shifted, holding her face. “My face really hurts…
