Chapter 408
“Yeah, this is my own choice,” Jennifer said. “Don’t tell Donald I’m pregnant?
Teresa said slowly, “You’re not being fajr to Donald. Even though you don’t want the baby, you should at least talk to him. He’s your fiancé ren
“That’s enough,” Jennifer said.
Jennifer said, “I love Donald. I really do. But for me, my career comes before love. Do you get what I mean?”
“Oh, please. Stop trying to make yourself sound so noble,” Teresa scoffed.
She didn’t feel like arguing anymore and just dropped it.
When they got to Bradley’s and Natalie’s graves, the place felt bleak.
Teresa placed the white chrysanthemums she’d brought in front of the headstone, staring at the photo. “Grandpa, Grandma, I came to see you.
Scenes from when her grandparents were still alive flashed through her mind–how much they spoiled her and how they doted on her. Only someone who was raised by their grandparents could truly understand that kind of love.
Jennifer felt a bit cold and went back to the car first. Teresa stayed, quietly lighting candles for them.
She said, “Grandpa, Grandma, I found my sister. She’s married into the Lynn family now, and I’m not part of the Lynn family anymore. That’s fine, right?
“I really miss you. If you need anything over there, just let me know in a dream, and I’ll come to visit you.”
After standing there for a long time, Teresa finally turned and left reluctantly.
They picked the nearest hospital. Since this was where Bradley and Natalie used to live, Teresa still knew her way around, and Chesburg hadn’t really changed. There was only one tertiary hospital in town.
They walked in silence. When they reached the hospital entrance, Teresa stopped. “You go in by yourself. I’ll wait for you outside,” she said.
Seeing Teresa about to leave, Jennifer grabbed her arm. “You want me to go in alone? No way. You have to come with me,” she insisted.
Teresa laughed coldly. “Why? Getting scared now? Jennifer, you’re a gynecologist. You see new lives every day. If anyone knows what it means to be a mother, it’s you. And now you’re about to end your own child’s life with your own hands.”
The hospital was busy, especially around the gynecology department. Women were coming and going. Some were holding babies, while others, with big bellies, were there for prenatal checkups.
“My situation isn’t the same as yours. I’m divorced. You and Donald are about to get married, and your in–laws treat you well. You should talk to them about this,” Teresa insisted,
Jennifer was silent for a couple of seconds and then walked straight into the waiting room without looking back.
