Chapter 451
Chapter 451
Still, trene couldn’t help but feel bad. She wondered, ‘Did the 300 million dollars really go to Winnie?‘
Jonathan kept his head down, looking at the documents. “I’ll talk to the lawyer again to see if there’s another way. It’ll take some time. You know, I’ve been swamped lately”
Irene nodded. “If you need anything, just let me know. I will take care of it for you.”
Jonathan looked up and glanced at her, looking a little annoyed. “Please stop getting involved in my work and my personal life. I own a company. I think I can handle this much.”
Irene nodded repeatedly. “Alright then, I’ll leave you alone. Go ahead, but make sure to take care of yourself. And don’t rush into finding a wife. After all, people can be unpredictable. You’ve got to be careful.”
“I know.” Jonathan’s brow finally relaxed. He had no intention of looking for one anyway.
Once Irene left, the office fell quiet again. Jonathan felt even more relaxed, enjoying the peace of having no one nagging him about when he was going to get married.
Not long after, Donald came to see Jonathan, bringing him a wedding invitation. He was going to hold a wedding on July 7th at Skycrest Grand Hotel.
“I can help you book a better hotel,” Jonathan said. Skycrest Grand Hotel was pretty old, and the decor wasn’t great,
Donald shook his head, turning down Jonathan’s offer. “Jonathan, you already paid for my engagement with Jennifer. I can’t let you spend more on us. You’ve done enough.”
Seeing how firm Donald was, Jonathan didn’t push it.
“By the way, I ran into Aunt Irene on my way here. She didn’t look like she was in a good mood,” Donald mentioned.
Jonathan gave a small, knowing smile and briefly explained to Donald why Irene was upset.
Donald was surprised. “Are you talking about Ms. Shelton, the one who came to the restaurant last time? I didn’t expect she wasn’t sincere with you.”
Jonathan shrugged and said, “It’s no big deal. Most people I deal with aren’t completely sincere with me.”
Donald felt bad for Jonathan, so he said seriously, “Jonathan, we’re always here for you. No matter how people out there treat you, your family will never betray you.”
He was right. Even though Jonathan was already in charge of the company, his siblings had never tried to get anything from him.
Jonathan patted Donald on the shoulder, feeling reassured. “Hearing you say that puts my mind at ease.”
“Well, I won’t keep you from work. If you ever need anything, just let me know. I’ll try my best to help,” Donald said.
“Sure.” Jonathan smiled. “Did you drive here?”
Donald nodded. “Yeah, my car is downstairs. I’ll get going then.”
Jonathan nodded.
Once Donald left, Jonathan picked up the wedding invitation, flipping it open. Seeing Donald and Jennifer’s names brought back memories of his own wedding to Teresa.
He didn’t have much money at that time, and his family didn’t approve of his marriage to Teresa, so their wedding was small and simple.
Now he was well–off and was able to give her a grand, perfect wedding she deserved, but they could never get back together.

Chapter 451
Jonathan slipped the invitation into his drawer and threw himself back into work, trying to numb the pain.
As night fell and they got off work, Donald and Jennifer headed back to their house. Jennifer went to make dinner, and Donald helped her out in the kitchen.
After dinner, Donald gave Jennifer a shoulder massage.
“Babe, you know, I think being a doctor really suits me. If I ever went into business, I probably wouldn’t have the stomach for all that scheming Donald
Jennifer felt strange and asked him why he had suddenly brought that up, and that was when Donald told her about Jonathan. He said, “In business, everyone is just out for themselves. You never know who’s genuine.”
Jennifer pressed her lips and said, “Looks like Jonathan isn’t exactly someone foolish enough to let his guard down.”
Donald shrugged. “He started his company when he was young. Of course, he’s always cautious. I just feel sad that he runs a huge business, but there’s hardly anyone he can trust.”
“You should be careful, too,” Jennifer said quickly. “What if he tries to pull something on you?”
Donald couldn’t help but laugh at her silly words. “He got everything. What could he want from me? Honestly, we all feel bad for him. He once told me if he can’t even trust his own family, then there’s no one left he can trust.”
“That sounds great.” Donald nodded and said, “Let’s invite Ms. Nelson, the teacher who adopted you. I want to thank her because if it weren’t for her, ! wouldn’t have met you and married you.”
Jennifer nodded. She had been thinking the same thing. She felt ashamed that she hadn’t visited Genevieve in a long time.
