Miriam said. “You called me and said you were back. I thought you’d be out having fun for a few more days!”

“Something came up at home,” Teresa said, then asked Miriam, “Why are you in such a rush to return the car? You could’ve kept it a few more days.

Miriam sighed and said, “I’m actually here to pick you up and take you to my place, so you can lay low for a bit.”

Noticing Michael watching her, Miriam lowered her voice and leaned in to whisper something in Teresa’s ear.
