Chapter 116
At this moment, Elara really thought there was something seriously wrong with Charlotte!
Charlotte clearly looked down on her.
In fact, it wasn’t a big deal if Charlotte just did not like her novel
After all, it wasn’t as if a big star like her couldn’t get a script.
But why was Charlotte insisting on taking on the role of her novel if she didn’t like it? Elara really didn’t understand.
“Then give me one reason to let you star in it!” Elara said.
“Are you rejecting me now?” Charlotte laughed softly. “Elara, do you even know who you’re rejecting?”
“I really don’t care!” Elara said.
you have any
Charlotte paused for a second and then said, “By offering to appear in your work, I’m doing you a favor! Do idea how many people want me to act for them? I can’t even get through all the scripts that come my way! Every one of them is a big production. Are you sure you want to reject me?”
She really thought she was good at acting.
Besides, Charlotte was beautiful, undeniably so.
She wasn’t at the top of the industry yet, but she had already gathered a decent fanbase.
There were even fans of Elara’s novel who had suggested Charlotte should star in it.
If it had been earlier, Elara might not have minded.
But since she had already decided to sign someone else, Charlotte was out of the running.
“I’m sure,” Elara said firmly.
As Elara was on the phone, Aubrey entered the room.
Not wanting to prolong the conversation with Charlotte, Elara hung up.
“Hello, Elara,” Aubrey greeted her, walking over.
“Uh–huh,” Elara mumbled in response.
She liked Aubrey. He had helped her once, and she couldn’t forget it.
Aubrey had just turned eighteen and was soon heading off to college.
This time, there was a horse–riding competition, so he came here to watch it. Felicity had insisted on accompanying him since she was worried about him.
“Who were you talking to on the phone?” Aubrey asked, sensing Elara’s irritation.
“Just an actress,” Elara replied,
“An actress?” Aubrey raised an eyebrow. “Who? How dare she upset you! I’ll go give her a piece of my mind.”
Elara smiled faintly. “I don’t think you’d know her.”

Chapter 116
She knew nothing about the clationship between Charlotte and Aubrey, so she didn’t connect it to him.
Besides, it was just a trivial matter, hardly worth mentioning.
Later, at dinner, it was just the three of them—Elara, Aubrey, and Felicity.
Felicity turned to Elara. “I called the movie company earlier,” Felcity said. “They gentioned that the actress who offended you wanted to come over and apologize, but I told them no.”
“There’s no need for that,” Elara replied.
“What actress?” Aubrey asked, still curious.
Who is bold enough to offend Elara?‘ he thought.
Felicity said, “An actress named Charlotte, who’s been out there claiming she’s your brother’s girlfriend, stirring up trouble with Elara.”
Aubrey was stunned speechlessly.
Felicity continued, “I was originally in talks with the movie and TV company, but she messed everything up. The project about Elara’s novel didn’t get signed and was handed over to another company instead.”
“Is that true?” Aubrey’s voice grew louder.
The fork in his hand shook, slipping from his grasp and clattering onto the table.
A maid quickly brought him a new one.
Elara glanced at him. “Why are you getting so worked up?”
“No, it’s nothing…” Aubrey said.
Aubrey suddenly remembered how Charlotte had done everything she could to sound out him when he had just returned He didn’t expect her to do such a thing behind his back.
At that moment, his phone rang. He glanced at it and stood up awkwardly. “I need to take this call,” he muttered, walking out the door.
Felicity had tried her best to do Elara a favor, but it had turned into a mess because of the incompetence of the other party. She turned to Elara and apologized, “Elara, I’m so sorry! Honestly, it’s probably for the best that the projects were signed elsewhere. That company is too unreliable. I hate that you had to go through this.”
Felicity was clearly disappointed to those people.
Elara replied, “Don’t worry about it. There are always people like that. It’s not your fault.”

Aubrey stepped outside and found Lysander at the door. “Lysander, what brings you here?” Lysander’s face was expressionless. “Is Elara here?”
“Yeah, she’s inside, having dinner,” Aubrey replied, glancing at him. “Didn’t you call her?”
Lysander made no reply.

Chapter 116
He knew the hotel where Ekara was staying, so he went to the hotel first, but when he arrived, she had already left, so he rushed over.
Now that he knew she was inside, he walked straight in without another word.
Aubrey watched him leave, then turned to Crispin. “What’s going on with my brother?”
Crispin sighed. “I don’t know.”
Lysander had been anxious to see Elara, but the heavy rain in Starfield City had delayed him.
It was a miracle he had managed to get here at all.

‘No wonder he is so on edge–he probably feared that if he arrived too late, Elara would have flown away!’ Crispin thought.
Crispin followed Lysander inside.
Aubrey, meanwhile, remained outside, hidden after seeing that his brother walked inside. He quickly dialed Charlotte’s number to confront her.
Charlotte didn’t know how to explain, but Aubrey wasn’t about to go easy on her. “Don’t ever contact me again. Remember, I don’t even know you,” he snapped.
He had thought she was cute and harmless, and he’d never had a girlfriend before, so he had imagined hanging out with one for fun.
However, he never thought that she even had the nerve to offend Elara.
If Lysander found out, Aubrey would definitely be in for a rough time.
“Why?” Charlotte asked, confused.
“Think about it yourself!” Aubrey shot back, then abruptly blacklisted her after hanging up.
