Chapter 170
Hearing that, she paused for a moment, then said, “If you need thy help, I can come back
She could carve out some time for it, especially since she’d recently set aside her writing projects to focus more on her main job.
If her father’s company needed her help, she could help.
Barrett nodded. “Just knowing you’re willing is enough! For now I can handle things. When the time comes, I’ll call you in.”
Elara nodded. “Alright.”
Later that evening. Elara had just finished showering when Lysander walked in. Noticing he was just getting home, she asked, “Busy day?”
“A few things to handle,” he replied.
She gestured toward a chair. “Have a seat. I’ll finish drying my hair.”
As he settled on the sofa, he looked around her room. He noticed it was tidier than usual. Much of her stuff was already packed up for the move.
All of these were supposed to be moved to his place.
Once she finished drying her hair, Elara asked, “Are you free tomorrow morning? Dad suggested we visit my mom’s grave He thinks now that we’re married, we should see her together. Want to come?”
Lysander replied, “Okay.”
Seeing that he had agreed, Elara smiled.
Lysander asked, “What’s so amusing?”
Elara said, “I thought you’d be too busy to join.”
Lysander shrugged. “I’m not that busy.” Visiting her mother was the right thing to do, after all.
The next morning, they set out early. The sky was gray and overcast.
After arriving at the cemetery, they parked and started walking up the path. Elara and Lysander walked behind Barrett.
Lysander noticed Elara slowing down and asked, “Tired?”
Elara replied, “Guess I’ve been working out less lately.”
Lysander suggested, “Let me carry you.”
Elara chuckled. “If Dad sees, he’ll laugh at me. I can’t be outdone by someone his age, can I?”
“Are you sure you could keep up?” Lysandef looked at her suspiciously.
Elara huffed. “Do you really doubt me that much?”
“Just saying. You’re usually the first one to call it quits,” he teased.

“Lysander!” Realizing what he meant, Elara gave him a light shove, and he darted up a few steps ahead.
She called out, “Go on then! Think you’re special just because you have longer legs?”
He crouched beside her, waiting for her.
When Elara walked up, he reached out to her and held her hand helping her up the last few steps.

Elara glanced at him with a smile. Although Lysander was being mischievous, she couldn’t help wishing moments like this could last forever.
After visiting her mother’s grave, Barrett went directly to the airport for his business trip.
Ursa had already packed Elara’s things. Elara didn’t bring much, only the essentials.
As she locked her bedroom door for the last time, she turned to see Lysander waiting at the door. “Ready?”
From this day forward, she wasn’t just Elara anymore. She had a new role, one as Lysander’s wife.
They moved her belongings back to the villa, bringing Cotton along as well. Elara was now officially settled into Lysander’s home.
The following days were filled with preparations for her becoming a full–time lawyer.
Barrett had entered a business partnership with Asher. Yet, aware of Elara’s distaste for Asher, he hadn’t mentioned it, and she didn’t ask.
Meanwhile, Adam and his associates launched a short video platform, and Asher introduced his version called “QuickClip.”
Before Elara traveled back in time, QuickClip had been the only app to rival Adam’s platform.
Elara had hoped cutting off the original partnership would stop Asher from progressing.
But now, he’d made himself one of QuickClip’s co–founders again.

On the day Elara officially made it through her probation, Evelyn organized a celebratory dinner for the firm’s staff.
Not only was Elara moving up, but so were Adair and her roommate Cynthia.
As they waited for everyone to arrive, Elara was chatting with Cynthia, who suddenly said, “Look, isn’t that Asher?”
Elara leaned in and saw Asher on the television, dressed in a suit and glasses. It had been a while since she’d seen him. He was participating in a televised interview, speaking confidently and exuding self–assurance.
It was hard to imagine he was the same Asher who had once endured harsh criticism and abuse from his father.
Cynthia commented, “I’ve heard his company’s app, QuickClip, is doing well. Everyone I know has been using it lately. He’s impressive!”
As Elara’s roommate, Cynthia knew a bit about Asher’s past, particularly through Daphne’s story.
She was aware that Asher came from a modest background. Seeing how far he had come made her appreciate his accomplishments even more.

Elara glanced at the title under his image, saying, “Founder of QuickClip.”
Recently, his video app had been making waves, even surpassing the engagement numbers of Adam’s platform.
Of course, this was likely temporary. Eventually, his app’s success would plateau, unable to sustain a lead over Adam’s.
But for now, Asher was enjoying his moment in the limelight.
As they spoke, Adair entered, with Asher in tow. She greeted Elara with a smile. “Ms. Kensington. I brought a friend along for dinner. I hope no one minds?”
Asher had always been on good terms with Evelyn, so Adair had no hesitation in bringing him along.
