Surprised, I replied, “Of course. I’ll definitely be there to cheer you on.”
Hearing my enthusiasm, Lirian relaxed, and I could almost picture him nodding, though he quickly realized I couldn’t see him.
“Okay,” he said, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice.
Every time Lirian and I had crossed paths before, I had been following Ryan, as if he were the sun and I was merely a planet orbiting him.
It must have pleased Lirian to hear me say I’d come to support him directly.
A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, barely noticeable but definitely there.
After we hung up, I returned to my notes, but my thoughts wandered.
I remember in my last life, Lirian was extremely talented in sports and was interested in many of them.
But at the time, he had no schooling. I had mentioned Lirian's schooling to Ethan, but he refused of his own accord, asking to spend more time honing his warrior skills and becoming a warrior to protect me as early as possible.
In this lifetime, he could finally have the time to do what he loved, and that was a great relief to me.
That's when I suddenly reacted to why there was so much anticipation and excitement in the school about the upcoming baseball game this weekend.
It was more than just a regular game; it was an exchange match where our school’s baseball team would face off against a professional team, a rare opportunity that drew excitement from students and faculty alike.
The thought of the competitive atmosphere filled me with a rush of anticipation, and I could almost hear the cheers of the crowd and the crack of the bat against the ball echoing in my mind.
Ryan was undoubtedly excellent as the baseball captain, responsible not only for making plays, but also for rallying his teammates and keeping morale high.
On the field he was usually confident and composed, with his eyes focused on the game in front of him, and countless fans screaming and chanting for him, of which I was one at the time.
I was one of them. Not only that, but I was busy, spending a lot of money on water and food for the whole team, and even hiring professional coaches to coach him.
For the sake of Ryan's face, it's generally said outwardly that he hired those professional coaches.
But this time, my cheering partner is going to be Lirian.
Ryan, I hope you don't lose too fast this time without my help.
