The revelation hit me like a punch. I looked at Sharik, my mind racing. If this was Lorik’s brother, could he be the one who had shot him? The same man who had tried to take his life not long ago? 

Sharik, seemingly sensing my confusion, turned his attention to Lorik. His lips curled into a smirk. “I 

you one last time before I left the pack,” he said, his voice mocking but with a hint of nostalgia. “You were what, nine years old? Now look at you. Completely different. Seems like Andrew’s turned you into the perfect heir.” 

I blinked, my gaze shifting between them. Now that Sharik mentioned it, there was a resemblance.

of Lorik. 

Sharik had the same mother as Narik and Daria, I suddenly remembered. Their mother had died shortly after Daria was born. 

But Lorik wasn’t in the mood for reminiscence. His voice was clipped, all business. “Did you do it? 

The attack?” 

Sharik chuckled softly, pushing off the car and crossing his arms. “You’re looking in the wrong place, little brother. If you want answers, stop sniffing around me and start looking at your dear old father.” 

Lorik stiffened, his eyes narrowing. “Andrew wouldn’t…” 

“Wouldn’t what?” Sharik interrupted, his smile cold. “Be so cruel as to take a shot at his own son? I didn’t say he did it. I’m saying you should investigate who’s around him. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Andrew’s got an illegitimate kid out there. And some time ago, my specialized bullets went missing.” 

A shadow passed over Lorik’s face, and I could see the wheels turning in his mind, connecting pieces of a puzzle he hadn’t realized existed. 

Sharik glanced at me briefly before turning back to Lorik. “You should trust me. If I hated you for taking my place, you wouldn’t have lived past the age of nine. And if I had any interest in hurting her, I wouldn’t have brought your Luna back to you in one piece.” 

I shivered slightly as Sharik’s gaze lingered on me. His tone was matter–of–fact, but there was Something unsettling about him, something that made me want to get as far away as possible. 

Without waiting for a response, Sharik turned and slid into the driver’s seat of the car. The warriors around us hesitated, awaiting Lorik’s order.

The ride back to Silvermoon was quiet, the air thick with unspoken tension. Lorik gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes fixed on the road but his mind clearly elsewhere. 

“Do you believe him?” I asked gently after a while. 

Lorik exhaled slowly, his shoulders sagging as if a great weight pressed down on him. 7 don’t know.” he admitted, his voice filled with frustration. But it lines up with some other information I’ve been hearing. There’s a chance Sharik’s telling the truth. 

I placed a hand on his arm, offering what little comfort I could. He turned to look at me, his xpression softening for a brief moment. 

“You always know how to make this easier,” he murmured, his gaze filled with a deep affection. “Having you by my side. It’s the only thing keeping me from breaking under all this.” 

His vulnerability tugged at my heart, and though part of me wanted to pull away, I didn’t. I squeezed his hand gently, letting him hold on to that comfort, however temporary it might be.
