“Lorik,” I said softly, “you can’t protect me from everything. I know the risks, and I chose to come. But we’ll get through this. Together.” 

His eyes searched mine, looking for reassurance. I gave him a small smile, hoping it was enough to ease his mind. 

“I’ll be careful,” I added, my voice lightening. “And besides, I’ve got you to keep me safe, don’t I?” 

He let out a small chuckle, pulling me into his arms. “You’ve always been stronger than I give you

immediate, bursting through the mental connection with joy and tears. “Take care of her,” she urged, “especially with Andrew still out there.” 

“I will,” Lorik promised, though I knew he was already worried about the dangers that surrounded

Caroline’s voice softened as she spoke to Lorik through the mind link, her tone filled with concern. “Lorik, you have to be extra cautious now. A Luna’s wolf pregnancy is delicate, far more than you think. Her energy will drain faster, and the bond with the child will need nurturing. Stress, even 

from the smallest things, could harm both mother and pup. Please, take care of her–and yourself.”

I raised an eyebrow. “And if I’m right?” 

“Then I’ll chase you for the rest of my life.” 

I laughed, shaking my head. “Seems like I lose either way.” 

Lorik grinned, pulling me closer. “Shirlika, don’t let your father lose,” he murmured to my stomach, his voice filled with tenderness. 

Gradually, we both drifted into sleep, his warmth surrounding me. 

But in the morning, the sound of rain hitting the roof woke me. Lorik stirred beside me, his fingers 

brushing my arm. 

“It’s raining,” I murmured, groaning as I stretched. “I’m not getting up.”
