After It Happened novel Chapter 29

I stare at the woman's tear filled eyes and my heart swells at the faith she has put in me. A boy she just spoke to.

"Yes, Aunty. I promise."

I open a door with a 'Do not disturb' sign hoping it is her room. I have to put my fist on my mouth to hold laughter in. Her bed is as big as mine, but she is everywhere. Her head hangs off the edge of the bed and her mouth is open. Her legs are so wide apart that I won't be surprised if she tells me she took up gymnastics. Thank goodness she is wearing pants and not a skirt. That would be a problem for both of us. To top it all, she lets out loud snores at intervals. She never outgrew her snores lol.

Now for the interesting part- waking her up. I kneel beside her bed watching her and thinking of ways to wake her up. Water? No, I don't want to go home crying today. A slap? I flinch thinking of the slap I'll get in return. I'll tickle her.

At the first try, she slaps my hand away, but doesn't wake up. When I try again, she unconsciously intertwines her hand with mine and I gasp. If shocks from my hand that make my stomach lurch are the sparks writers make a fuss about then I am done for. The girl has to wake up now! With my free hand I hold her nose preventing her from breathing. She lets out a loud kind of snort then jolts awake. Her eyes fall to our entwined hands then move to my face.

"Blood of Jesus!" She shouts so loud that even I jump.

"What the hell are you doing here? How did you enter? You didn't even tell me you were coming?"

"Do you have a DVD player?"

"Yes, downstairs but..."

"Let's go."

Maybe it is her half-asleep state that is making her so submissive, but she follows me looking like a lost puppy. A cute one at that.

"What are you doing?" she asks when I sit in front of the DVD player trying to set it up.
