"I... was kidnapped by human traffickers?"
Hearing Lu Sheng’s words, Chen Shu couldn’t help but freeze, his already bewildered gaze becoming even more so.
He might have lost his memory, but not his common sense.
In his understanding, those typically kidnapped by human traffickers were children and women, who were then sold to rural families desiring children or a wife.
He seemed to be a man, right?
And a young, strong man with a tall frame at that.
What kind of human trafficker could have abducted him? More importantly, since he was neither a child nor capable of having children, what would traffickers abduct him for?
Lu Sheng saw the confusion in Chen Shu’s eyes, lifted her gaze, and continued to blather with a straight face.
"Do you think this sounds improbable?"
Before Chen Shu could even reply, Lu Sheng turned to get a mirror from the bathroom, then directly placed it in Chen Shu’s hands.
"Take a look at your face," the girl said with a cold expression yet in a serious tone, "you’re worth the risk for the traffickers."
"..."
Chen Shu looked down and caught a glimpse of his somewhat unfamiliar face in the mirror—
Not to be narcissistic, but he thought the girl made a very good point.
Lu Sheng’s intention wasn’t actually to deceive Chen Shu.
If Chen Shu really had lost his memory, although it meant she wouldn’t get the answers to some questions, it also eliminated a potential threat and hassle for her.
"I didn’t expect you to lose your memory," Lu Sheng said to Chen Shu, "you have a sister named Christine, and she’s currently in Jiang City."
"After dawn, I will help you contact her to see what plans she has. In the meantime, you can rest well here."
Lu Sheng’s tone sounded distant yet polite, suggesting she was a rather aloof person, so Chen Shu felt it improper to press for more details.
He could only take a deep breath, his gem-like light green eyes reflecting a touch of gratitude as he said, "Okay... Thank you for saving me, Miss Lei."
Hearing this ’Miss Lei’, Li Muchen’s face was expressionless, but Chen An behind him couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth.
Lu Sheng remained as calm as Li Muchen, accepting the thanks without changing her expression: "You’re welcome, we’ll step out for now."
*
After Lu Sheng and Li Muchen returned to the Bedroom, Li Muchen slightly frowned and looked down at Lu Sheng: "Do you think Chen Shu really lost his memory?"
"It seems that way, as I have indeed lost part of my memory and can’t remember anything."
Lu Sheng looked up, "I suspect, the incense you mentioned was actually brought over by Chen Shu himself last night."
"It’s just that he probably didn’t predict that the incense would affect not only me but himself as well."
