Alpha Loren novel Chapter 14

October 12th

When we eventually arrived back at the house, it was already 5:00 pm. Leo had carried me all the way back to the car and I had sat silently in the car the rest of the journey.

"You almost got yourself killed today, Ella," He said when we reached the yellow light of the hall Leo set me down on the ground. "How did you end up in that forest?"

"I needed to do something important," I said feeling a bit like a kid getting told of my its teacher. "And I'm fine. Just a little shaken."

"You mean you chose to go out there? What could have been more important than your life?" He said pulling me into an embracive hug and leaning down to nuzzle his face into the crook of my neck.

He suddenly pulled away, revealing his darkening eyes, "Who's scent is that?"

"The rogues, you saw what they did," I said innocently even though I knew exactly who it was.

"It doesn't smell bad enough to be a rogue. Who else have you been with tonight?" He said eyes getting darker as he spoke.

"Nobody," I said.

"You are a terrible liar," He growled placing either hand on the wall beside me trapping me between his arms. "Was it that boy in the parking lot?"

"No-" I began before being cut short. He clasped my hair in his fist and yanked my head back so that my neck was fully exposed. I yelped in pain. I was taken aback by his physical advance because he was causing me pain, something he usually seemed reluctant to do.

"You are mine and only mine. Do you understand? If you ever, run away from me like that again, I won't be quite as forgiving. I will make sure to track whoever it is down that you went to see and kill them," He growled.

I nodded my head submissively as the thought of anybody's death plunged deep into my stomach. As if I hadn't already been through enough this evening, Leo was always there to make it worse.

"Did he know I am your mate?" he asked.

I shook my head, blinking back my tears, "I tried to tell him but he didn't believe me."

Leo nodded, "Because you don't bare my mark."

I looked down to the floor and nodded again.

"Thank you for your honestly," he said releasing his tight grip on me, "But I will not have other men touching you," He said deeply as he brushed my hair off my neck.

I took a deep breath.

"So I am going to mark you," he said, "To stop this from happening again."

"Do you want me to force it down your throat?" He asked thrusting the bowl and fork in my face.

"As if you haven't forced enough on me today," I hissed.

"Eat it," he demanded.

With little energy to put into resisting any further, I took the bowl and slowly twizzled spaghetti around the fork without actually eating any of it. He then sat down next to me and started to brush my hair off my neck.

"Don't touch me, Leo," I growled, "You're as bad as the rogues."

"I did it to protect you from people like them," he said.

"Yet you cause me more pain than they did," I said as he took my hands.

I fought against him and knocked the bowl of spaghetti off my lap in the process. "Get away from me," I yelled pushing him away and running out of the room. I headed straight for the front door which to my surprise was open. The cold air instantly hit me but I ran out into the darkness anyway. He let me get halfway down the drive- for his own amusement probably before pulling me into his chest from behind.

"Where are you going, sweetheart?" Leo whispered in my ear. "You bare my mark now, you can't escape. Runaway and the first wolf you pass will bring you straight back to me. I'm sorry it had to be this way but I can't keep risking losing you."

I continued to weep as he dragged me back into the house and upstairs to his bed, where I lay balling my eyes out until I had no tears left to cry. He must have left me until I fell asleep because I don't remember Leo coming back in after cleaning up the spilt spaghetti.
