Chapter 152: A Mother’s Rage
Chapter 152: A Mother’s Rage
(Celeste’s POV)
The harsh sound of Regina Blackwood’s slap rang through the air, leaving my cheek stinging and my heart pounding. My head snapped to the side, and for a moment, my vision blurred.
“You worthless b***h!” Her roar burst through the tense silence, her voice cracking with fury and grief.
Instinctively, my wolf stirred, a soft growl building in my throat. But it was quickly silenced by lingering fear and self–preservation.
Regina’s violet eyes, glowing with untamed emotion, locked onto me. Her wolf’s energy nearly suffocated the air between us, pressing down with the full weight of her status.
“This is all your fault!” she screamed, her voice raw and trembling.
I straightened slowly, swallowing the lump in my throat.
“It isn’t-” I tried to muster even a fragment of defense, but I barely managed one word before
Regina’s claws extended, silencing me.
“Submit!” she snarled, stepping closer, her voice dripping venom. “Submit before I tear your
throat out where you stand!”
The scarred remnants of my wolf whimpered softly under her command.
I breathed deeply, lowering my head. Slowly, painfully, my knees bent, and I dropped into a
kneeling position.
The gesture stung worse than the slap. The humiliation burned deeper than the tea she had just hurled at my face. My pride wanted to rear up and lash back, but my wolf recognized the
Alpha King’s blood. Regina Blackwood was not someone I could afford to challenge, not now.
“My son is gone because of you!” Her voice cracked, raw with emotion.
I kept my eyes lowered, unwilling to tempt fate by meeting her gaze.
“You made him feel worthless!” she accused, pacing in front of me like a predator circling
wounded prey. “You rejected him! Mocked his condition! Do you even know what you’ve done?”
My heart pounded painfully, the weight of her words pressing into my chest.

Chapter 152: A Mother’s Rage
She paused in front of me, looming so close that her scent carried the sharp bitterness of
grief.
“Say something!” she hissed, her claws glinting in the dim light of the room. “Defend yourself, you ungrateful creature! SPEAK!”
A memory resurfaced unbidden, Marcus’s smug face in his torture den. The way his victims had screamed while he looked on with dark satisfaction.
Had she known about his games? His sadistic pleasures?
I opened my mouth to respond, but my voice betrayed me. Nothing came out.
Regina took my silence as confirmation of guilt.
“How dare you!” she shrieked, stepping forward again. “You disgrace the royal mate bond you
were granted! Do you even know what we’ve done to protect you?”
Her hand shot out, grabbing the fabric of my sleeve and yanking it harshly.
“You!” She shook me with frightening strength, her grief warping into raw fury. “If anything
happens to Marcus, Celeste, I will END YOU!”
Through the storm of accusations, I clung to my silence. Speaking would only worsen the
situation.
Her claws retracted slightly, but her wolf’s presence never weakened.
She released me abruptly, shoving me back with enough force that I braced myself on
trembling arms to avoid collapsing entirely.
“Tell me, little wolf,” she sneered. “How does it feel to bring destruction wherever your shadow
falls?”
I clenched my hands into fists and remained on my knees. The trembling of my wolf betrayed
my fear, but I kept breathing evenly, staying as composed as I could.
“You refused him!” Regina’s voice rose to a fever pitch once more. “You refused my son so
thoroughly he left the royal territory for the Northern wilderness, believing he could reclaim his
strength!”
Her accusation hung in the air like a blade poised to strike.
What was I supposed to say? That I had given Marcus an ultimatum because I feared for my
life? That his sadistic nature had pushed me to the brink?
“Your disdain drove him away!” she shrieked. “And now he’s been captured by those rogue

bastards!”
She paced away momentarily, her hand running harshly through her dark hair.
I forced myself to remain still, ignoring the pain from the hard floor beneath my knees.
“Your Highness,” a gentle voice interrupted.
I glanced up slightly to see Jane Thompson, Regina’s personal attendant. The beta wolf’s calm presence was starkly out of place in the tension–filled room.
“Please, Your Highness,” Jane continued, stepping forward cautiously. “Let me prepare some moon–blessed tea to calm your nerves. You’ve been under a great deal of strain.”
For a moment, Regina’s wolf receded just enough for her to reach for the offered cup. But the
brief calm didn’t last.
Suddenly, the steaming tea was hurled straight at me.
The burning liquid splashed across my face and neck, sending a sharp, searing pain down my skin. I bit back a cry, unwilling to give Regina the satisfaction of seeing my pain.
“You DARE act like the victim?” she roared.
She rounded on me once more, her pacing more erratic.
“Do you think you’re free of blame?” she demanded, her voice a sharp blade cutting through what little composure I could muster.
“You’ve ruined everything!” she screamed. “This pack favored you once. Marcus claimed you,
gave you protection–protection!”
Her voice cracked on the last word as if the weight of those claims was too much for her to
bear.
“The mate claim elevated you from NOTHING!” she spat. “And you threw it back in his face!”
Her tears fell freely now, unstoppable as she broke in front of me.
Jane attempted again to intervene, placing a calming hand on Regina’s shoulder.
But the Alpha King’s sister shoved her away, snarling, “Leave us!” Her grief spiraled into
uncontrolled rage.
Jane hesitated briefly, her eyes darting toward me in silent apology. She nodded and withdrew quickly, leaving me alone with the storm that was Regina Blackwood.
Once Jane was gone, Regina’s voice softened, but it was no less cutting.
