Chapter 58: I Would Find Her

Chapter 58: I Would Find Her

(Alexander’s POV)

The sharp scent of blood hit me like a blade. Coppery and thick. It was unmistakable.

Nina’s.

My body froze for the briefest second, shock slamming through me. Then my white wolf surged forward, snarling, igniting my muscles into motion.

I didn’t think. I didn’t need to. My legs propelled me forward, my senses narrowing down to one

thing: the blood. Nina’s blood.

The crowded Blood Moon Market blurred around me as I shoved past vendors and wolves

alike. Stalls toppled, trinkets scattered, but I didn’t care.

Behind me, Scarlett’s voice called out, thin and desperate.

Alexander, wait! Please! Her footsteps faltered in the chaos.

I ignored her. There wasn’t time.

I broke into a sprint, moving faster than I thought possible. My white wolf growled deep within me, demanding answers, demanding I find the source of the blood.

The scent thickened as I approached the Silver Creek tavern. My heart raced, pounding

furiously as the doorway came into sight.

And then I saw her.

Nina.

She was slumped against the wall near the entrance, her body crumpled like a discarded doll. Blood stained her lips and chin, trickling down onto the floor. Her silvergray wolf whined faintly, its light dim, its energy flickering like a dying flame.

I dropped to my knees beside her. Nina!My voice was sharp, urgent. I grasped her shoulders gently, trying to steady her fragile frame.

Her silver eyes fluttered open, just barely. Every breath she took was labored, her chest rising

and falling unevenly.

She’sgone,” she rasped, her voice raw and broken.

The words slammed into me like a punch to the gut.

Gone? What do you mean gone?!My voice cracked with desperation as my wolf snarled uncontrollably beneath the surface.

Nina winced, her expression twisting as she tried to sit up straighter. Her bleeding fingers

shifted, clutching weakly at her side.

Mercenariesshe began, her voice faint and strained. She coughed, flecks of blood staining

her lips. Two dominant wolves…. They came for her.

Mercenaries.

I clenched my fists, claws threatening to break free. My heart pounded violently in my chest

as fury bubbled beneath my skin.

How?I demanded. My voice came out hard, almost unrecognizable with how tightly I was

holding onto restraint.

Nina’s head tilted slightly, her silvergray wolf releasing another pitiful whine. Usedancient ropes. Wolfsbanesymbols etched…” Her words faltered, her strength clearly failing.

My gaze flickered to the floor nearby, where fragments of glowing rope lay discarded.

Wolfsbane still clung to its surface, its acrid scent burning my senses.

They subdued her,Nina continued, forcing herself to speak despite the pain. Theythey said

contract. Paid.

Paid?I hissed, leaning closer to her. My iceblue eyes burned with anger. Paid to do what?

Who wants her-

They’re stopping herstopping her from reaching the ceremony,Nina whispered hoarsely. Her lashes fluttered briefly, the effort of speaking clearly taking everything she had left.

The gravity of her words made my stomach churn violently. My wolf released a feral growl, tugging at its leash as I fought to keep my composure.

This wasn’t some random attack. Someone had carefully planned this. Contracted

mercenaries. Ancient materials. Precise timing.

Who sent them?I barked.

Nina tried to shake her head, but her strength gave out. She slumped further against the wall,

and her silvergray wolf whimpered faintly.

I don’tknow, she whispered weakly. But they wereready for her. They knew,

The rage inside me threatened to explode. Whoever had done this wasn’t just powerfulthey were smart. And they’d wanted this to happen.

I shot to my feet, barking through the packlink. Kane, I need all exits sealed now. No one

leaves or enters without our approval. Dispatch every available unit. Find out where unknown wolves have gone.

Kane’s response came quickly, steady and reassuring. Understood, Alpha. Warriors are

moving now.

I paced back and forth, my eyes darting between Nina and the glowing wolfsbane ropes. My wolf clawed at my insides, restless and irate. Every second Celeste was gone felt like agony.

Nina coughed again, catching my attention. I crouched back down beside her, trying not to let

my anger show in my voice. Why was she here? Who sent her to this tavern?

Scrollcame with his royal seal,Nina croaked out. From Marcus. Directing herhere, to

Silver Creek.

Marcus.

My boiling anger surged dangerously close to overflowing.

If this was some sick game of his-

The tavern door slammed open behind me, cutting through my spiraling thoughts.

The royal aura hit me like a physical force, crushing the air in the room. Violet energy swirled

violently, demanding submission from every wolf present.

Marcus Blackwood entered, his expression carved with pure rage. His violet eyes blazed as he

surveyed the scene, his royal wolf thrumming with unrestrained power.

Where is she?he growled, his voice sharp and commanding.

I stood abruptly, meeting his glare headon despite the intensity of his aura. She’s gone,I said

coldly, my tone clipped.

Gone. The word tasted bitter on my tongue.

Marcus’s focus shifted instantly to Nina, his violet eyes narrowing dangerously. Explain!he

barked.

Nina trembled slightly under the weight of his energy but somehow managed to keep herself

composed. Her loyalty remained unbroken, even now.

Marcus’s expression darkened further, an animalistic snarl ripping from his throat. What scroll?

His violet eyes narrowed in volatile fury as he turned back to me.

She only followed your orders,I snapped, my fingers twitching at my sides. Your seal

directed her to this tavern.

I sent no such orders,Marcus spat, his voice colder than I’d ever heard it. I arranged to meet

her at the Northern tavern.

My white wolf raged beneath my skin. The implications of this revelation twisted something

deep inside me.

Then someone intercepted your message,I said lowly, my voice sharp and biting. “They

twisted it. Forged it. Made it look official enough to lure her here.”

Marcus’s glare burned brighter as he stepped closer, his towering frame radiating fury. His

royal wolf pulsed aggressively, adding pressure to already suffocating tension.

And you let her be taken,” Marcus growled, his words laced with accusation.
