Nicholas didn't respond. His dark, piercing eyes were fixed on the rescue team.
Meanwhile, at Sawyer Residence.
Tobias and Stefania's hearts dropped when they saw the latest news on television.
"How did Kieran get into a car accident?" the two of them gasped.
Stefania was so overwhelmed by the news that her heart couldn't take it and she fainted.
"Mom!" Tessa exclaimed.
Thankfully, Tobias caught Stefania in time to stop her from falling.
However, Gordon slipped out of Stefania's lap and nearly dropped to the floor.
Thankfully, Gregory was quick to react as he immediately grabbed his younger brother.
Nevertheless, Gregory was only a child. He wasn't strong enough to keep them both steady, so he ended up sliding to the ground as well.
"Gregory! Gordon!"
Tessa was alarmed. She hurried over and took Gordon into her arms as she helped Gregory up.
As she dusted off Gregory, she asked worriedly, "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine, Mommy. Is Gordon hurt?"
Gregory was worried about Gordon. He tiptoed to check on his younger brother.
Tessa looked down at the little boy in her arms and confirmed that he was completely fine.
Gregory exhaled in relief.
However, Tessa had other things to fret about.
She glanced at her unconscious mother-in-law and quickly called the household staff over and assigned tasks to them. "You take Gregory and Gordon upstairs, and you, ask the family doctor to come over at once."
"Yes, right away."
The staff nodded and did as told.
Soon, the children were taken upstairs.
Just then, Tobias spoke up. "Tessa, call Nicholas and ask him what's happening."
Tessa nodded and got her phone.
"I'm at the main house now, Nicholas. Mom and Dad saw the news on the television, and they want to know how things are going over there. Have they found Kieran yet?"
"The rescue team is still searching the river. They haven't found anything yet," Nicholas replied grimly. He didn't hide the truth from them.
Tessa's heart ached at the news, but she tried to reassure Nicholas. "No news is good news. I'm sure Kieran will be fine."
"I know. Help me take care of Mom and Dad. Tell them not to worry. I'll make sure Kieran comes home safely," Nicholas declared firmly.
Meanwhile, in Filisburg.
Joseph was woken up by his butler. "Sir, there's news from Xerthania."
After making his move, he had instructed his subordinates to relay any news from Xerthania to him at once, regardless of the time.
Thus, he sat up and leaned comfortably against the headboard before asking coolly, "What's the update?"
"The plan was a success, but it wasn't Nicholas who got into an accident," the butler replied.
Joseph frowned. "Not Nicholas? Who then?"
"It was Kieran."
Joseph was disappointed to hear that.
Why wasn't it Nicholas who died?
The butler seemed to have noticed Joseph's disappointment and he continued, "Although it wasn't Nicholas who got into the accident, they said that Kieran is still missing right now. His chances of survival are extremely slim."
"That's good. One dead is better than nothing. Kieran's a tough one to deal with too."
Joseph's mood improved after seemingly thinking things through.
Even though nothing happened to Nicholas, this incident was still enough to keep the family occupied for quite some time.
Nicholas won't be in the mood to come and interfere with things here.
Thus, he instructed, "Tell them to keep a close eye on Remus' family. Keep me informed of their every move."
"Yes, sir."
The butler was about to leave when Joseph stopped him.
"Pass the news to Adam," Joseph instructed with a chuckle. "Let him share the joy too."
The butler nodded and left.
Soon, Adam heard that Kieran had gotten into an accident.
However, he wasn't able to be as open-minded about it as Joseph. Instead, he rushed over to Joseph's house with a heavy heart.
