Always Been Yours (Tessa and Nicholas) novel Chapter 1428

Chapter 1428 Remus Won’t Forgive Them

Since they were utterly oblivious to Remus’ thoughts, they started pleading with him the moment they saw him.

"Uncle Remus, I know that our fathers went overboard with what they did, but they're getting on in years, and they wouldn’t be able to live in such harsh conditions like a prison cell."

"Yes, Dad only did something so ridiculous out of a moment's folly. Please forgive him."

"Now that Grandpa and Grandma are no longer around, they're the only blood relative you have left."

Remus almost choked in anger when he heard their shameless pleas because they sounded like nothing but excuses. Finally, he glared at the three middle-aged men and scoffed derisively, "Even without your fathers, I still have other relatives and would rather not have brothers like them. Just because they're old and foolish doesn't give them the right to commit such crimes. So, they’ve only just realized that they couldn’t handle prison, huh? So, why did they still take the risk and do those awful things? I thought that you were here to grovel and apologize, but it looks like I've set my bar far too high for the likes of you! Frankly, I really wonder how you could bring yourselves to ask me for their freedom. What? Do you think that they don't have to pay for their crimes after they caused the death of my grandson simply because they're old and my brothers? They would like to get out, eh? Don't even think about it! Hell would freeze over before I would ever agree to such a ridiculous notion!"

Remus felt his blood boil as he lashed out at them mercilessly. His fury was so evident that the men prostrating themselves before him didn’t even dare raise their heads. Nonetheless, although they looked cowed, their hearts were filled with hate for Remus. Unfortunately, they had no choice but to weather through his anger as they were here to plead with him.

Meanwhile, Ian was worried that Remus' heart couldn't take it when he saw Remus becoming so agitated. Thus, he hurriedly tried to pacify him, advising, "Sir, your health! You should take care of yourself!"

Remus inhaled deeply before finally giving out the order with a bellow, "Toss these idiots out!"

Ian acknowledged his instruction and hastily urged them to leave with a polite but firm attitude. Eventually, they were forced to leave yet another place in dissatisfaction.

However, the moment they stepped outside, Calvin was the first to lose his temper as he started grumbling at the top of his lungs, "I told you that it's useless to beg this old geezer. If he really cared about our fathers, he wouldn't have allowed the police to take them away yesterday."

"That's enough. Keep your voice down. Someone might hear you!" Zachary snapped gloomily before climbing into the car.

Felix followed after and sat next to him, asking, "Zachary, what are we going to do now?"

"Let's return home," he said and instructed the driver to start driving.

Back at home, they had just clambered out of the car when the butler came and politely informed them, "Sirs, Mr. Fiddler is here."

The three of them shared a look with each other before hurrying into the house. In the living room, a middle-aged man in a black suit, who looked very smart and capable, was patiently waiting for them on the couch.

This man was none other than Joseph's assistant, Emmet Fiddler.

The instant his eyes caught sight of the three men, he rose to his feet and greeted them before asking, "I heard from the butler that you went to meet Mr. Remus. What did he say?"

"That old geezer won't do anything for us regardless of what we say and even threw us out of the house," Calvin hissed angrily, recounting their experience at the Sawyer Residence earlier.

This time, Zachary didn't stop him and waited until he was done with his tirade before he inquired Emmet about the purpose of his visit.

The look in Emmet's eyes turned dark as he said coldly, "My men found out that Kieran is still alive."

"Kieran Sawyer is alive?"

The three gasped in surprise as their shock was soon replaced by intense fury.

Although they were called idiots by Remus, they were far from morons. So, based on Emmet’s information, they quickly parsed out what had actually occurred.

"Nicholas and Kieran Sawyer… We’ve been had!" Felix growled, gritting his teeth.

Calvin and Zachary were wearing solemn expressions as well because they had already figured out that this was a plot devised by Nicholas and the others to eliminate them once and for all.

Nevertheless, they calmed down a few minutes later and tried to salvage their situation. Finally, Felix turned his attention back to Emmet and asked, "Did you tell our fathers about this yet?"

Emmet shook his head in response, answering, "Not yet. I came looking for you right after I received this information."

Then, everyone turned to Zachary. "What do you think, Zachary?"

"Let's pay our fathers a visit," he suggested, and they all went to the police station after coming to an agreement.

After they explained the reason behind their visit, both Joseph and Adam became utterly raving mad.
