Chapter 113 The group 

I sighed, and I hung up. I got back into the house and I dressed up. When I got ready, I drove to the club. I arrived early, b long. The guys who I contacted arrived early too. We all went into the meeting room, and I started. 

but I didn’t need to wait too 

“First, I would like to ask everyone in this room to keep this meeting secret. No one, not even my family, can know ab 

about it. If you feel you don’t belong here, please leave now.” 

I waited to see who wanted to leave, but everyone stayed in the room, then just stared at me, awaiting me to talk 

“So, I’m trying to find people to create my group. Not my family, not my brother, only me.” 

“You want to be the leader?” One guy asked me. 

“Yes. I want to be the leader, and I will pay all of you well if you join me.” 

“Better than now?” Another one asked. 

“Yes, plus if a task is completed successfully, I won’t be ungrateful.” 

They all thought. 

“What kind of business would it be?” Another asked, 

“Any

of business that we do, usually.” 

“What about your family, Gideon?” 

“I want to leave my family out of my businesses. That would be the point” 

One of them stood up a and looked at me. 

“You are too young and reckless to do that. The result would be a lot of dead bodies. Sorry, Gideon, but I won’t do this. I won’t tell your family about your plan, but don’t count me in.” 

Then he turned around and left. Another four stood up and looked at me, apparently thinking the same way. They only showed me they would say nothing, but then they left too. 

“Gideon, I don’t understand. Why the hell do you want to work on your own? Another, called Vince, questioned me. 

1 sighed 

“There is a case that I have to solve, but my family won’t help me with that.” 

They were thinking again and looked at each other. I knew what was on their minds. They thought if I wanted something that my family was against, that would be a completely stupid idea, or something that would be impossible to do for a small dot like me. 

“How much would you pay?”

“Well, I’m in.” Vince said. And after he said that,

They were my people since the club opened, and I trusted all of them. But even if they would think of stabbing me in the back, they knew in our world that would bring some painful consequences. 

“Have you already got a job for us to do?” Vince asked.

“His name is Charles Morris.” 

“The Italians after him too.” Vince told me that with a frown. I smiled. 

“Gideon, please don’t tell me you want to go against the Italians! Vince told me that while he rubbed his forehead. 

“No, I’d never go against them.” 

“But you are after someone who they want.” 

“Believe me, they won’t be offended if I catch him first.” 

“Why do you think that?” He asked me with a laugh. 

“Because we want him for the same reason.” 

His facial expression changed instantly, and he just looked into my eyes with a frmen. 

“Have you spoken to them?” 

I nodded. He looked away in disbelief, obviously struggled to speak, but he couldn’t hold his question back, which I didn’t mind answering. 

“Don’t say that you are cooperating with them, Gideon.” 

“It’s not cooperating, Vince. This time it’s a case that must be solved. Riccardo wants him, just like 1 do. None of us mind how he would be caught and who would make him pay for what he was doing, unless he dies the worst way.” 

He looked at me for a little while, obviously tried to read me, but he sighed finally. 

“So you are betraying your family for the Italians?” 

“No. This is a cause that they want me to leave, but I can’t. Therefore, they gave up on me, and now they won’t help me at all. I pretend I got over it, but I would never be at ease unless we finish it.” 

He looked at me, frowned. I knew he put the pieces together, but he stared at me with curiosity. 

“Is this thing related somehow to your ex–wife?” 

I looked into his eyes, and I nodded. He looked at the ground. They knew what happened. Vince was there with me a few times, when I went to the D’angeli house to claim Alice back. He knew how much she meant to me, and he knew I broke completely when she disappeared. Maybe he thought I had an agreement with Riccardo in exchange for some information, 

“Will you give us the details?” 

Yes. 

I took the envelope that I got ready and 1 gave it to Vince. He took the details out of it, and he had a look. He looked at me after he finished. 

“Do you think he joined the Devilles?“ 

“Yes, no other group would have helped him to accomplish his plan.” 

“Have you got a plan, Gideon?” 

“I was thinking. The Devilles are really dodgy. Η we could catch one of them, at least, I’m sure we could get some information giving them money, or by force.” 

Vince nodded. 

“Yeah. I have some contacts. I can End out who is the best to catch.”

Vince and the others looked at me. 

“He is the most unloyal cheater and betrayer who I have ever known.”
