Chapter 44 Confessions 

I knew he was about to kiss me, which surprised me. It wasn’t just that only Lucas kissed me a few times when we were kids; it was also me not thinking he would like me like a woman. Actually, it wasn’t against my will at all, unless he was serious about it, which I knew he wouldn’t. But at the last minute, Gemma’s furious face appeared in my mind, and I stepped away from him. 

“What’s wrong?” He asked. 

“We can’t do this, Gideon.” 

“Why? We both want it, so what is the problem?” 

“Because,” I sighed. “First, you have Gemma, and second, the least that I want right now is to have my heart broken. 

He rolled his eyes. Then he looked back at me. 

“First, Gemma isn’t my girlfriend, and she knows that, too.” 

I looked at him suddenly. 

“It didn’t seem like that, not to mention when you introduced her to me as your girlfriend.” 

He sighed in disbelief. 

“I lied to you. I just wanted you to stay away from me, which I can’t regret mo 

more. 

“Despite that, you sleep with her.” I think I couldn’t hide my pain of remembering the sounds of their having sex. 

He crossed his arms, while looked at the ground. 

“I don’t care about her. I’m not fancy having sex with her either. She actually annoys me, and I can’t stand her being near to me anymore.”
