After dinner, Mr. Jasper Sr. asked Hunter and Min to accompany him for a walk in the garden to help with digestion. As they strolled, he gently placed Mia’s hand in Hunter’s, his tone serious. “My greatest wish is for you two to walk through life hand in hand. Right here, right now, I want you both to promise me f you’ll never part, that divorce is off the table for good!” 

Hunter raised an eyebrow and glanced at Mia, a faint smile curling his lips. So, she had been tough with him about divorce, but then turned to Mr. Jasper Sr. for backup. He knew she didn’t really want to leave him. 

Mia, however, looked at Hunter and said nothing. She had already made up her mind about the divorce, and she couldn’t bring herself to lie to Mr. Jasper Sr. by making a promise she couldn’t keep 

Their silence made Mr. Jasper Sr. angry. “Are you two already talking about divorce?” he snapped. 

He was well aware of all the gossip and headlines about Hunter recently. Honestly, he couldn’t fault Mia. If he were in her position, he would be asking for a divorce too. 

But deep down, despite knowing Hunter wasn’t a good match for her, his selfish wish was for Mia to remain part of the family. 

Sensing Mr. Jasper Sr.’s anger, Hunter quickly made a promise. “I swear, I’ll stay with Mia for the rest of my life. Divorce is off the table.” 

Even if Mia was rigid and unexciting, he never intended to replace her. She was part of his routine now. Mia looked up at him, seeing a rare gentleness in his eyes under the dim garden lights. In that fleeting moment, she had the sudden urge to try again with him. 

Maybe if they gave it one more shot, she wouldn’t have any regrets, no matter the outcome. 

So, she nodded slightly. 

Mr. Jasper Sr. let out a sigh of relief, smiling as he said, “Hunter, since you’ve made that promise, you’d better keep it! It’s getting chilly, so I’ll head inside. You two take a walk, hold hands, and enjoy the evening.” 

He motioned for Mr. Cooper to help him back inside. 

Once they were alone, Mia glanced at Hunter and asked softly, “So, regarding that media scandal with Jenna, am I still responsible for handling it?” 

Hunter felt the softness of her hand in his, her voice a sultry whisper against his ear. As their eyes locked, the deep allure in her gaze sent a rush of heat through him. Desire surged fast and hard. 

Without hesitation, he tightened his grip and yanked her into his arms. 

Bending down, his lips captured hers in a deep kiss. 

“Mrs. Jasper, I think you should focus on handling my needs first,” he whispered, his voice low and tempting, like a devil seducing her in the dark. 

Their bodies pressed tightly together, and Mia could unmistakably feel Hunter’s growing arousal.
