Recently, the law firm had been buzzing with talk about the newly opened QM Law Firm, and how the owner was a returnee with overseas experience. Mia had been too busy to pay much attention, but now, she realized it was Zac’s firm. 

The Ford family’s business had always been in aviation, So, why the sudden shift to law? 

“It looks like you’ve already heard,” Zac said with a light smile. “Yes, QM is my firm.” 

“I remember you were also a top law student back in the day. If you had pursued being a lawyer, who knows? Maybe we’d be rivals today!” Mia said playfully 

“Even if I had become a lawyer, we would never have been opponents!” Zac replied. 

He then thought to himself, silently adding, “I would only help and support you!” 

Just then, Summer’s voice suddenly interrupted. 

“Mia! Mia! Where are you?” 

Mia, touched by her friend’s concern, raised her arm and waved it wildly. “Summer, over here!” 

Not far off, a car rolled to a slow stop. As the window lowered, Hunter’s cold eyes locked onto Mia. She was now safely in another man’s arms, still wearing the wedding ring he had given her. 

“Yeah, right… like Mia would ever need me to come get her.” With that thought, Hunter rolled up the window and hit the gas, speeding off. 

Zac opened the car door and gently placed Mia inside. “Tell your friend to take my car back. I’ll take care of things here,” he said calmly, straightening up and stepping back. 

Summer rushed over, fists raised in a protective stance, but the moment she saw Zac, her hands froze mid–air. 

“Zac? What are you doing here?” 

She had assumed it was some kind of thug or criminal! 

Zac tossed her the car keys. “You two should go.” 

“What about you?” Summer asked, puzzled. 

“Don’t worry about me. Just get Mia home before she catches a cold,” Zac replied before walking toward his assistant. 

He was genuinely relieved he had stopped the car earlier. If not, he would have missed the chance to save her. He would have regretted it for the rest of his life! 

Summer got into the car and glanced back at Mia. “Where to?” 

Mia, wrapped in Zac’s coat, seemed composed, though the chaos beneath the coat went unnoticed. 

“To your place,” she sighed, rubbing her temples. “Tomorrow, I’m going back to pack up my things and move into Opal House.”

Opal House was the home Mr. Jasper Sr. had given her as a wedding gift, already in her name. 

At least she had a place to go after the divorce. Without it, she wouldn’t even have a roof over her head.

tomorrow,” Summer said softly, feeling a pang of sadness. She knew how broken Mia was but felt powerless to help her. 

“Thanks,” Mia mumbled, already feeling exhaustion settle in. “I’m going to take a nap.” 

Summer started the car and drove off. 

Mia’s sleep was restless, haunted by nightmares of terrifying faces closing in on her.
