Hearing the sound, Sam Immediately raised the divider between the front and back seats. 

Hunter looked down at the woman in his arms, as if entranced, he lowered his head to kiss her lips. 

But as the image of Hunter kissing Jenna in the hospital earlier flashed in Mia’s mind, a wave of nuusea hit her. She pushed him away and covered her mouth, dry heaving. 

The sound of her retching made Hunter’s expression darken instantly. “Mia, what’s that supposed to mean?” 

He kissed her, and she was gagging? 

Mia quickly grabbed a tissue, wiped her mouth, and looked up at him with red–rimmed eyes. “We’re getting divorced. This… it’s not appropriate.” 

Hunter grabbed her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. “You haven’t even fulfilled your end of the deal. Divorce isn’t on the table yet.” 

Mia looked at him and gave a soft, bitter laugh. “By tomorrow morning, I’ll have everything handled.” 

Hunter was in such a hurry to clear Jenna’s name, all because she had won some awards and shone brightly on stage. Meanwhile, no matter how successful Mia was as a top divorce lawyer in the city, to him, it was just a job. Her struggles didn’t matter to him. 

“You’d better follow through,” Hunter said, a hint of irritation in his voice. This woman really had some nerve. She wasn’t coming back to beg him? Fine, let her handle it. 

“I will, of course. Because if you step in, I’m finished, right?” Mia felt a wave of sorrow, though her smile grew even brighter. 

Three years of marriage, where she had cared for him with all her heart, and yet, even a stone would have warmed by now. But Hunter remained as cold and ruthless as ever. 

“As long as you understand. Just don’t try to play games with me,” Hunter muttered. Her bright smile somehow irked him. 

“Play games with you? How could I even dare to?” Mia responded with a bitter smile. 

Her face was smiling, but inside, her heart was bleeding. She should give up now. 

“You wouldn’t dare,” Hunter scoffed, though something about her demeanor left him feeling unsettled. 

Mia turned her head and caught a glimpse of his reflection in the car window. 

She couldn’t deny that Hunter was undeniably handsome. It was no wonder so many women in the city flocked to him. 

But sadly, no matter how many women tried, none of them could ever reach his heart. 

Sometimes, Mia admired Jenna. She had managed to be the only woman Hunter truly cared about. 

Suddenly, the phone rang, breaking the silence. 

Hunter pulled out his phone, and Mia couldn’t help but notice the name “Jenna” flashing on the screen,

“Hunter, didn’t you say you’d have dinner with me tonight? Why aren’t you here yet?” Jenna’s voice was sweet, dripping with affection. 

That was the voice of someone who had always been showered in love.
