Mandy froze for a moment, then nodded. “Got it!” 

She thought to herself that the new boss had come in with Jenna today, practically announcing her as the boss’s wife. If Jenna wasn’t, then who was? But since Mia said she wasn’t, that was enough for her. She trusted Mia without question. 

A sudden ring interrupted their conversation. Mia glanced at her phone, hesitated briefly when she saw an unknown number, then answered. 

“Hello, this is Mia Smith from HH Law Firm.” 

“Mia, it’s me.” The cold voice on the other end was unmistakable, and Mia immediately recognized it as Hunter’s mother.

pursed her lips, keeping her tone distant. “Mrs. Mabel Jasper, is there something you need from me?” 

From the day she got married, Mabel had insisted on being addressed as Mrs. Mabel Jasper. Occasionally, in front of others, Mia would pretend and call her “Mom,” but they both knew there was no real warmth there. 

“Meet me at Cloud Café. There’s something I need to discuss with you.” Mabel got straight to the point. 

“It’s working hours right now. I’ll call you after I finish work, and we can arrange a time and place, if that’s all right,” Mia replied, her tone respectful yet assertive, leaving no room for fault. 

Mabel had never liked her, and if she was reaching out now, it was surely for something unpleasant. 

“I’m heading to the café across from HH Law Firm right now. Meet me in thirty minutes.” And with that, Mabel hung up. 

Mia frowned as she held the phone. “Did Mabel think Mr. Jasper Sr. had transferred his shares to her and is coming to demand them?” she speculated. 

She then gathered up her case files, grabbed her bag, and told Mandy, “I’m heading out for a bit. Call me if anything urgent comes up.” 

“Got it. Take care,” Mandy replied. 

No sooner had Mia left than Jenna strode into the office. Mandy quickly stood up, greeting her, “Miss 

Walker.” 

After Mia had told her Jenna wasn’t really the boss’s wife, Mandy’s opinion of her had soured. Working in the divorce department, she had seen too many mistresses trying to ruin families to feel any sympathy. 

“Where’s Mia?” Jenna asked, irritation evident in her voice after her encounter with Hunter. She clearly 

intended to vent on Mia. 

“Mia’s meeting with a client,” Mandy replied calmly. She didn’t know Jenna’s reason for seeking Mia, but she could tell it wasn’t anything good. Lying was her safest move. 

“Bring me your recent case files and the evidence you’ve collected. I need to review them,” Jenna demanded.
