“Why isn’t Mia acknowledging me, Hunter? Do you think she’s upset?” Jenna looked at Hunter with an apologetic expression. “Maybe you should go talk to her.” 

Inwardly, however, she was cursing Mia, furious at her timing. Of all moments, Mia had to walk in right when she and Hunter were finally having a pleasant time together. 

Jenna even suspected that Mia had been waiting outside, watching for the perfect moment to disrupt 

them. What a wretch! 

Hunter frowned, set down his utensils, and looked over at Mia, calling out in a low voice, “Mia, come here 

now.” 

So, she had come just to test his patience, hoping he would chase after her? Childish. 

Mia kept walking, her fists clenched at her sides. Those two were truly insufferable. 

“Hunter, maybe I should go apologize to Mia,” Jenna said as she stood up, moving toward Mia. 

She was seizing this as a perfect opportunity to make Mia look bad. Even if it didn’t lead to a full–blown conflict, repeated incidents would slowly shape Hunter’s perception of Mia as a malicious woman, making it impossible for their marriage to improve. 

“Jenna, come back!” Hunter quickly called after her. 

Subconsciously, he still saw Jenna as the sweet, innocent girl from years ago, someone who would be vulnerable without his protection. 

Meanwhile, Mia was a well–known divorce lawyer in Haven City, highly sought–after and assertive. Jenna, with her soft demeanor, would surely be at a disadvantage against someone as strong–willed as Mia. 

Jenna stopped in her tracks, looking at him with a conflicted expression, biting her lip. “If I don’t apologize, she won’t come over, and she must be hungry by now! Hunter, I’m fine. You don’t have to worry 

about me.” 

Mia couldn’t help but find the situation laughable. Since when had Jenna become so “considerate“? An apology? It was clear she had other motives. 

Hunter’s frown deepened as he fixed his dark gaze on Mia, his expression unreadable. 

Jenna, meanwhile, strode toward Mia, her eyes gleaming with calculation. She would never pass up a chance to make things difficult for Mia. 

Seeing Jenna approaching, Mia had no choice but to stop and, in an act of caution, discreetly started recording on her phone. 

Jenna stopped a few steps in front of her, planning her next move to make it look as though Mia had tripped her. 

But just then, Summer appeared, sweeping past Jenna and linking arms with Mia. “Mia, there you are! We’ve been waiting forever! Come on, the food’s getting cold!” she said in a comically sweet, high- pitched voice. 

Mia tilted her head and laughed. “If you keep talking like that, I don’t think I can take it!”
