"I don’t think that can be done, brother." Bai Meiyue shook her head and refused. It wasn’t that Bai Meiyue was stingy, and its not that she was inhuman enough to not see the sufferings these people were going through.
She had enough stock of meat, vegetables, and grains. Even if she didn’t go out and hunt for months and days, her family could eat and drink without worrying about anything. It was perfectly alright for Bai Meiyue to take out little supplies and hand them over to these survivors as she did with Meng Suisui and the others.
However, these people were different from Meng Suisui and the little group of people who came to ask for work. They were yet to break free from the hours of glory that they had before the world fell into chaos; what was more, Bai Meiyue knew some of these people.
They were like hidden snakes who could swallow a human whole and wouldn’t even spit a single bone. If she gave them supplies once, they would ask for a second time and then a third time. If Bai Meiyue refused, she would be dragged down by these people.
And if they couldn’t get the supplies by begging, they would try snatching.
Bai Meiyue felt that these survivors were not only selfish but also problematic. They were quick to hide when zombies attacked their group and left the matter to be dealt with by others. But once the zombies were killed and the environment was safe, they would come out and start begging for supplies.
Survivors like them would cite how pitiful they were but Bai Meiyue had seen pitiful survivors like these beating and killing the weak and the young to snatch supplies. For such people, Bai Meiyue would always be stingy. Even if she had a lot of supplies, she would be a miser in the face of these people.
She respected people who would be willing to kill zombies to grab supplies but those who only knew how to depend on others while begging for mercy—sorry, she didn’t have such a big heart.
When Bai Zhan heard Bai Meiyue’s refusal, he didn’t say anything. Now, Bai Meiyue was the one who was leading the entire family. She had the aura of a leader and their family was willing to follow her. It didn’t matter that Bai Meiyue was the youngest and was ordering them around. As long as they could survive this chaos, they were willing to listen to Bai Meiyue. Nothing was more important than staying together.
Seeing that her brothers were not saying anything, Bai Meiyue nodded and went to her room. But before going to sleep, she headed to Tong Huan’s room and used the medicinal powder that she had exchanged earlier. According to Mystic Medic, this powder was sure to work on Tong Huan’s wounds.
But—
She looked down and saw the seeds that the man had given her and sighed. That man had also given her quite a lot of trouble.
The next morning Bai Zhan and Bai Jixuan started to work hard on the solar panels and greenhouse once again. Meng Suisui and the rest had woken up early to help them. Even though it was hard work to create such a large greenhouse from scratch, no one said a word.
