Inside the car, Bai Meiyue was wondering whether she should dump Lei Qian and his team altogether. She wasn’t one to get involved in unnecessary drama and given the attitude and obsession of Lu Yin, Bai Meiyue felt really tired.
Ever since she was reborn, she never planned to do great things or look for a man to rely on. She just wanted to live a quiet life with her son and deal with the scum who targeted her and her son in the last life. Her goals were different from those of Lu Yin and Dacheng.
People like them wanted to stick close to the high-ranking and powerful people. They would do anything to get what they wanted, even if it meant dirty manipulation. Bai Meiyue never liked such ambitious people in her last life and she could never like them now either.
Thats because people like Lu Yin and Dacheng had no bottom line. If they were willing to please someone today, they could betray that person tomorrow as long as they clung onto someone more powerful and influential. Such people wouldn’t hesitate to pull the rag from under her feet if it meant that they could survive.
Bai Meiyue didn’t wish to entangle with such treacherous schemers.
Just as she was lost in her thoughts, someone knocked on the glass of her window. Bai Meiyue ignored him because if it was her brothers, they would have entered without knocking; after all, they had the keys. However, even when she closed her eyes and was determined to ignore the man outside, it seemed like he was determined to disturb her if she didn’t open the window.
Bai Meiyue squeezed her eyes and then opened them in frustration. Sitting up straight, she pulled the glass down and glared at the man. "What?" she snapped.
"You wound me, Yueyue," Lei Qian spoke with an aggrieved voice. "You just promised me that you would treat me better and now you have gone back to your old temper."
Bai Meiyue rolled her eyes and stated coldly, "Speak what you want or get lost if you don’t." Was she the only one who broke the promise? Haha. She told Lei Qian that she didn’t want to see Lu Yin in front of her eyes, and yet this man drank the water that she gave to him. Did he think that she didn’t have eyes?
"Give me some water; I am parched." Lei Qian didn’t show any anger, even though he was berated like a dog. Instead, he lowered his head and softened his tone when he realised that Bai Meiyue was not in a good mood.
"Didn’t she give you enough water? You want more?" Bai Meiyue questioned with a raise of her brow.
"What water? I didn’t even take the water bottle. You told me that you don’t want me to get involved with Lu Yin so I made my stance clear to her."
"Then what about the water bottle?"
"Guo Fu took it."
The expression on Lei Qian’s face was rather calm, as if he was relieved that the water bottle didn’t fall in his hands. Lei Qian heaved a sigh of relief in his heart and then said to Bai Meiyue in a flattering voice, "Come on, give me some water, Yueyue."
Bai Meiyue stared at the man as if she was determined to see whether he was lying or not. But she didn’t see any signs of lying; she blinked her eyes and then snapped her fingers. Clean water appeared in thin air before morphing into numerous ice cubes.
