Meng Qibao also chased after the zombies with a long axe in his hands. As he chopped down the head of the zombie that was about to attack him, he turned around and looked at his sister, who didn’t look alright.
"Sister Suisui, you should go back and take some more rest," said Meng Qibao as he looked at his sister worriedly. "I think you have caught a fever." He paused before asking, "Are you really alright? You are not hiding something from me, right?"
From yesterday, he kept having this nagging feeling that there was something wrong with Meng Suisui but every time he asked her if she was doing alright or not, Meng Suisui would smile and tell him that everything was okay.
Yesterday he believed her because Meng Suisui indeed didn’t look that sick but now he couldn’t help but wonder if his sister was lying to him.
"I am fine," Meng Suisui stiffened when she heard her brother’s question. She was worried that he would notice something so she gave him a breezy smile and said to him, "It’s my first time coming out after the apocalypse; I am not used to the scent of rotten blood and the sounds of skulls cracking."
Her excuse sounded valid and Meng Qibao stopped questioning her before turning to collect more crystal nuclei.
Meng Suisui, who was smiling a second ago, turned sombre when she looked down at her wrist, which was scratched by the teeth of the zombies. Even though she was quite relieved as she didn’t wake up as a zombie in the morning, Meng Suisui couldn’t let go of her worries.
Though she didn’t turn into a zombie, her fever didn’t drop either. If anything, it was still rising. It made Meng Suisui wonder if there was something wrong with her.
At first she wanted to believe that she would be fine but that was until she heard Bai Meiyue say that the zombies had started to mutate and were now evolving to higher-ranking zombies. Don’t tell her that she was about to turn into one as well.
"Sister Suisui, is something wrong?"
When she was lost in her thoughts, Mo He came to stand next to her; he looked at her pale complexion and asked concernedly, "Are you not feeling alright? If so, you should rest a bit more."
Meng Suisui shook her head and replied, "I am fine. Just feeling a bit woozy."
"I see, you are not used to killing zombies, is that it?" Mo He asked, and when Meng Suisui nodded, his smile widened and he said to her, "Sister Suisui, you should try to collect the nuclei and absorb them. When you start getting stronger, these zombies will start resembling chickens and ducks to you."
"Like we kill chicken to fill our stomachs and strengthen our bodies, the nuclei of these zombies are the same."
