Though Bai Meiyue allowed this woman to follow the team, she didn’t hold any particular respect or concern for Lu Yin. More importantly, Lu Yin also had a weird temperament. She seemed to respect and admire Lei Qian but if Jiang Haidai were to say that it was the truth, Jiang Haidai herself would say that it wasn’t the case.
If Lu Yin respected Lei Qian, then she wouldn’t ignore his orders so blatantly. He told her to not appear in front of him and yet Lu Yin was already acting as if Lei Qian never said anything to her.
"I will go with you." Though Jiang Haidai didn’t like Lu Yin’s actions and even looked down on her a little bit, she knew that she was an outsider in the team at the moment. She couldn’t say anything to Lu Yin nor could she stop her. What she could do was to intervene without provoking anyone.
Lu Yin went to say something upon hearing Jiang Haidai say that she was coming with her but before she could say anything, the woman smiled and said, "You can’t carry so many bowls on your own. They might look like they have no weight but it will become quite heavy if you carry ten bowls on your own."
When Lu Yin heard Jiang Haidai’s explanation, she pursed her lips and realized that what the woman was saying was indeed correct. She rolled her eyes and said to Jiang Haidai, "Whatever."
Jiang Haidai heaved a sigh of relief. She hurriedly scooped a few bowls of rice and placed them on a wooden plank but when she looked at the rapidly disappearing rice, she wondered if anything would be left for Bai Meiyue.
She pursed her lips and then scooped a bowl of rice before handing it to her son. She said to him, "Go and bring this to the nice sister who helped you yesterday."
Though Meng Guo was a bit slow, he was still sensible and smart like the rest of the children. He nodded and carried the rice bowl towards the room where Bai Meiyue was sleeping.
Seeing the little boy leave, Lu Yin snorted. She didn’t think highly of Jiang Haidai and Meng Guo as members of the team. At most, they were pieces of burdens that they needed to carry until they returned to the city.
Her contempt for the two of them was so clear that even Jiang Haidai noticed it. She didn’t like it but there was nothing she could do.
She was in an awkward situation and couldn’t afford to fight at the moment.
On the other side, Bai Meiyue who was sleeping peacefully, slowly turned to the side. Her brows furrowed up as if she was troubled with something and after a few minutes, tears started to flow from her side. She was once again trapped on the same day when she found her son was killed.
The lab was deserted and everything had been destroyed. There was not a single trace of her son. Even when she called for Xiao Cai, her son never replied. But she was sure that he was here; at least that was what Su Hu told her.
Even when Bai Meiyue didn’t find her son, she continued to look for him. It was as if her obsession had taken over her mind. She knew that Bai Cai was not in the lab but her heart refused to believe it. She continued to look for Bai Cai as if the little boy was playing hide and seek with her.
Bai Meiyue got to her feet and wiped the tears that were prickling in her eyes. She blinked her eyes and willed away the tears that were sticking to her lashes and turned around on her feet. She didn’t give up hope, as she was yet to check the basement. freeweɓnovel.cøm
