After all, the vegetables and fruits in her refrigerator alone were enough to sustain the entire team for more than three months. Since she was living a life that was so good, why would she bother with them? If these people felt good after looking down on her because of their own stupid ideas, then let them.
Even if they think of her as a fool, Bai Meiyue wouldn't lose any flesh from her body. She let out a yawn and closed her eyes before going back to relax her eyes. She was now pregnant and needed a lot of rest.
When Bai Meiyue returned home, she saw Mother Bai working in the kitchen. She was standing against the aisle while humming a soft tune when Bai Meiyue saw her mother cooking the fish ball soup; her eyes softened. When she was young, her mother often made this soup, as it was quite easy to catch fish in the river of the village.
Back then, Bai Meiyue thought that it was too tiring to drink the same thing over and over again. She even condemned her mother for being too poor without realising that her mother was doing her best to fill her stomach.
Her grandmother was an extremely patriarchal woman. Though her two brothers lived a well-off life under that woman, Bai Meiyue was not allowed to drink soup if her grandmother and grandfather were eating meat.
Bai Meiyue walked over to the kitchen and hugged her mother with one arm and said, "Thank you mom—"
She was about to say something more when her nose caught the stench of a rather sharp durian. She turned and looked at the fruit that was sitting on the counter and her expression changed again and again. Finally, she couldn't resist and turned around to rush to the restroom where she threw up.
Bai Meiyue heaved a few times before wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. However, just as she stood up and washed her hands and mouth, she saw her mother standing behind her with a troubled expression.
Her lips were trembling as she stared at Bai Meiyue who was standing in front of her. Her eyes looked at Bai Meiyue before her face fell and she stared right at Bai Meiyue's abdomen.
"Mom?"
Bai Meiyue called her mother again as she could sense that there was something that Mother Bai noticed, and from the look on her face, she didn't like whatever she was seeing.
"Mom?" she called her mother again when she saw that her mother was not speaking.
Though Bai Meiyue didn't say anything, she knew that her mother must have noticed something. After all, her mother had given birth to more than two children. She must know what was going on with Bai Meiyue, even if the latter was trying her best to hide it.
She was about to tell the truth to her mother, but then Mother Bai turned around on her feet and walked away.
