Helpless, Bai Meiyue could only resist her feelings and finish her breakfast in a hurry. She told her mother some random excuse before heading upstairs. She was thinking about leaving the house for a few days and searching for the machines that Shen Zhen told her about.

Bai Meiyue was indeed confident that there would be nothing wrong with her child but she still couldn't help but worry. As a mother, she wanted nothing to be wrong with her child and unless she saw with her own eyes that her son was perfectly fine, Bai Meiyue wouldn't stop worrying.

She was lost in her thoughts and didn't see the man following her upstairs; it wasn't until she heard Ciyi bark that she turned to look at Lei Qian, who was smiling at her. She noticed that when the man smiled, his eyes crinkled just like Little Cai Cai's.

Bai Meiyue sucked in a breath when she saw the shadow of her son in the face of his father.

"What are you doing here?" Bai Meiyue asked as she patted Ciyi on the head and calmed the little pup down. She was quite touched by the wariness and protectiveness of the pup. At least someone was genuinely concerned about her.

Though Bai Meiyue understood that her mother cared for her and she only wanted what was good for her, Bai Meiyue still felt a bit suffocated with the continuous nosing of her mother. This was the matter between her and Lei Qian. She was not a child who couldn't understand what to do.

If Lei Qian suspected the identity of her child, then he didn't deserve to be the father of her son. It was just that simple. Why would she want to be with a man who took her as a casual woman? She was not a fool.

"Your mother sent me here," Lei Qian replied with a tilt of his head. His eyes were brimming with innocence as he said to her, "She said that there was something important that you wanted to talk to me about; what is it?"

'Mom!' Bai Meiyue was speechless. She couldn't believe that her mother did such a foolish thing. What was the difference between telling Lei Qian this and letting him know that she was pregnant with his child?

Bai Meiyue felt her head throb and she simply made another random excuse. "It's nothing. I told my mother that I needed to leave for another hunt; she must have been worried about that. I don't think that there is any other matter that I need to speak to you about."

"You are going on another hunt?"

"I am."

"Why?" Lei Qian asked with a bewildered expression. As far as he knew, Bai Meiyue had enough resources to live a good life for the next few months. Was there a need for her to work so hard? She could take it easy for a few days.

"These resources are not enough," Bai Meiyue simply remarked, picking up the bottle of multivitamins before Lei Qian could see it and dropping it inside the drawer.
