Bai Meiyue walked over and took a look at the situation in front of her. She saw Mother Feng hiding behind Father Feng and poking him in the back while screaming for meat. Even though the woman seemed to have gone crazy, she was still fussing over her meals, clearly letting everyone understand what her priorities were.
When Father Feng saw Bai Meiyue, he turned even more apologetic. He said to her, "I am sorry, Meiyue. When I came to the base, the soldiers took away all the weapons that I had, even the gun that you had given to me. I had no choice but to hand it over because they were not letting me inside without handing the weapons over."
This didn’t surprise Bai Meiyue, as she knew that the fastest way to get hold of weapons without going on a hunt was to make the survivors hand them over. However, she was not too worried, as the gun that she had given to Father Feng was one of the guns that she had stolen.
There was no such thing as extra modifications to it; thus, she didn’t even care if the soldiers of the base took it away. She waved her hand and said, "It’s alright. If it’s gone, it’s gone."
"Beautiful girl, do you have meat... Give it to me." Before Father Feng could say anything, Mother Feng reached out and held her hands in front of Bai Meiyue as if she were begging.
Seeing her actions, Father Feng pushed her back and then said to Bai Meiyue, "I am really sorry. She went crazy after Ah Fei died and has been like this ever since." They had three kids, and all three of them died one after another. When Father Feng thought about how it happened because he didn’t teach his children well, he was filled with regret.
He should never have allowed his wife to spoil and ruin his children like that. If they were responsible and courageous like Bai Meiyue and her brothers, then they would still be alive. It was all because he didn’t teach them the good values and allowed his wife to spoil his son and ruin his daughters that they were in this condition.
When Bai Meiyue heard that Fang Fei was dead, she raised her head and arched a brow in surprise, as she thought that Fang Fei’s death was way too quick. But she didn’t say anything, nor did she reach out to help Father Feng or Mother Feng. She had done enough for the old man and repaid him for the help that he had given her in the past.
Thus, whether Father Feng lived or died had nothing to do with her. If he could awaken, then he might be able to live his life; if not, then he had to live it like the rest of the survivors.
As for Mother Feng, who had once lived a comfortable life by sucking and acting like a leech, she had to pay every debt that she owed Bai Meiyue even if she was crazy.
