CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
LEWIS
“Block all the roads. No one is allowed to cross the borders.”
Roughly an hour after my conversation with Lia, I was sitting in the middle of my study with most of the high-ranking werewolves in the pack was gathered. “I am deploying everyone, including those who are on vacation. Block all entry and exit to the royal castle. Don’t let a single fly go out,” I ordered in a stern voice. It was a highly treasonous statement that would surely send a werewolf to the dungeon. Despite this, everyone in the room calmly accepted my order. “Yes, alpha,” without hesitation, they simultaneously declared. I put my elbow on top of the table and placed my chin on my palm. “Any question?” I asked them.
My question was like a trigger that set everyone excited. In just a snap of a finger, their serious faces turned eager and passionate. “Alpha,” it was Simon who spoke first. I nodded at him, allowing him to speak. “Alpha, do we need to send warriors to the royal castle too?” He asked with a voice filled with excitement.
Suddenly, the old man beside him raised his hand and smacked Simon at the back of his head. “Rascal! Why would you even ask our alpha that question? Of course, we will! How are we supposed to siege the castle if we don’t march towards it?” Martin, the captain of the warriors, yelled. “You-you’re right!” Simon bellowed. “I apologize for being too slow, alpha!” He loudly stated before bowing down. “It’s been a long time since I had a proper fight. Later, I should sharpen my fangs,” Martin laughed loudly. His statement seemed to set the others into uproar. “That’s right, old Martin. The two of us should have a spar tonight to see if your old bones have already rusted. “I’ve always wanted to battle with those snotty royal warriors. Now it will finally be fulfilled,” another stated.
The corners of my eyes twitched. I slightly raised my palm and said, “Hold up.” Everyone immediately shut their mouths. “You will only block the roads to and from the royal castle and will not do anything else,” I told them. Everyone looked at me with confusion and disappointment. How could I not know? These rascals were thinking of besieging the royal castle and installing me as the lord of werewolves by force. In their hearts, I should rightfully possess the throne.
