Chapter 120
Matilda hid the documents behind her back.
“What a coincidence. I’ve been thinking of getting more car insurance myself. Let me take a look.”
That’s not necessary. I’ll refer you to an insurance agent later. They’ll introduce you to–Aunt Matilda, what are you doing?”
Before Mikayla could finish, Matilda pushed her aside and opened the file.
Mikayla attempted to snatch it back from her, but her small frame was no match against Matilda’s stature.
With her back against Mikayla, she quickly scanned through the document.
Once Matilda had read through the document, she spun around and roared
“Mikayla, what is this?”
Her loud voice attracted the attention of everyone at the secretariat department next to them, including
the secretary that was busy picking up the documents that they dropped.
Sensing something wasn’t right, Stephen granned the file out of his wife’s hand
His expression immediately turned grim.
He raised his hand, preparing to strike Mikayla.
She shut her eyes instinctively.
Despite that, the pain never came.
Opening her eyes, she found Jerome standing before her.
His expression was solemn as he grabbed Stephen’s hand.
“Stephen, let’s talk this out instead of resorting to violence.”
Stephen shot a glance at Jerome, withdrawing his hand.
He then glared angrily at Mikayla.
“Go to Jerome’s office now!”
As Stephen and Matilda dragged her to Jerome’s office, Jerome instructed his assistant.
“Get Mr. Edelstein to host the meeting. I’ll be late.”
“Noted, Mr. Miller.”
Brian left promptly as Jerome stepped into his office.
Stephen stared at them with a grim expression.
“What’s with this divorce agreement? Who proposed this?”
Jerome remained silent.
“Me, Mikayla replied indifferently.
“You-”
Infuriated, Stephen stood up and wanted to slap her again, but Matilda held him back.
“Kay, tell us. Why are you filing a divorce?” Matilda asked, trying to suppress her anger.
“Uncle Stephen, Aunt Matilda, please don’t interfere. This is a personal matter.” Mikayla looked unfazed.
“What do you mean by that?” Matilda was seething. “You’re spoiled by your grandpa! How dare you hide such a huge thing from your family and decide this on your own?”
Why can’t I?”
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, Mikayla answered with no reservation.
“I’m not happy in this marriage. So, I don’t see a point in forcing myself to put up with it. You have no right to disagree when even Jerome has agreed to this!”
“Jerome, did you agree to the divorce?” Stephen questioned.
