Chapter 129
Mikayla woke up after a good night’s sleep the next day. She was exhausted after her session with Michael last night. Without a second thought, she collapsed into a deep slumber after her shower.
Stretching her body, she reached for her phone to skim through the news.
It was then she spotted a burgundy velvet box beside her. Curious, she opened it and found out that it was a pair of diamond earrings. The design was simple yet exquisite; even the sheer amount of diamonds didn’t make them look gaudy. They were perfect for daily wear.
Mikayla never purchased this, but they were obviously for her since the box was placed on her
bedside. She wondered if Jerome had left it there.
It turned out that he did come back last night. She slept soundly last night, so she took no notice
of his return.
She wondered whether he was making amends with the earrings for going out to meet Kylie last night. He’d never done anything like that for her. Even when she tried to persuade him to buy her
presents during her birthday or their anniversaries, he’d always refuse, saying that he was too busy
for those.
Nonetheless, it looked like he had become more skilled in pleasing her.
Mikayla set the earrings aside. After cleansing her face, she poised the earrings at her ears. Only at that moment did she realize they looked familiar. Furrowing her brows, she finally recalled that
she had seen the earrings before.
In her previous life, she remembered Kylie wearing the same pair of earrings in the photos she posted on her social media. She mentioned in the caption that someone remembered that she loved orchids and gave her this particular pair of earrings. She was so happy to own them that she decided to share photos of them as a memento.
Mikayla vividly remembered how envious she was of Kylie. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from the photos even though her heart ached. She went to Wanda and sulked, causing Wanda to coerce Jerome into buying a pair of earrings for her as well.
This pair of earrings supposedly belonged to Kylie, yet it was in her hands now.
Mikayla heard someone at the door. She spun around, realizing that it was Jerome. He seemed unfazed when he noticed her with the earrings.
“I’m here to get something
“Did you buy the earrings?” Mikayla asked curtly.
Glancing at her, Jerome replied, “I bought it so you’d stop complaining that I never buy stuff for

you. I don’t want you to whine to Grandma again.”
“When did you buy them?” she questioned.
