Chapter 20 

Mikayla opened her email inbox and found responses from the companies she had previously applied to. 

During her college years, she obtained a prestigious financial investment analyst certification, making investment firms particularly interested in her profile. 

Two companies invited her for interviews, and two others offered her positions. However, due to her lack of work experience, the salary offered was lower compared to other investment analysts. 

Mikayla sent brief thank–you emails to these companies. 

While she initially considered returning to work in her field to regain professional experience, her decision to collaborate with Taylor had temporarily ruled out joining other companies. 

After replying to the emails, Mikayla opened the information about Ansoft Enterprise. 

In recent years, Ansoft Enterprise experienced rapid growth as a prominent liquor distillery. It promoted itself with slogans emphasizing its rich history and intangible cultural heritage, gaining significant recognition. 

Mikayla recalled that in her previous life, after Ansoft Enterprise went public with a successful round of private equity financing, its market value soared, contributing to substantial profits for Miller Group’s Bernhal Enterprise. 

With numerous appealing projects to invest in, companies naturally had many options. 

Although Taylor was formidable, he still fell short of the financial prowess of the Miller Group, making it a more formidable force. 

Presumably, in her previous life, Taylor had also been involved in the competition but ended up losing. 

At that time, Mikayla’s focus was entirely on Jerome, neglecting anyone else besides him. 

If she wanted to secure this project, Mikayla needed to offer a bid that would outperform Bernhal Enterprise but remain within its assessed value. 

In her previous life, when Ansoft Enterprise went public, major media outlets rushed to report on it. Mikayla recalled that news articles mentioned the investment amount and ownership percentage of Bernhal Enterprise. 

Chapter 20 

However, official reports might not be entirely accurate, so she had to use them as references and analyze the situation based on actual circumstances. 

With these thoughts in mind, Mikayla immersed herself in studying the data. 

Jerome returned to Dragoncrest Villa in the evening. 

Amy saw him and felt somewhat surprised. “Sir, you’re back. Dinner will be ready in a little while.” 

Amy noticed that Jerome had been coming home more frequently lately. 

In the past, he would only be home for two or three days a week, and on days with 

business trips, he came back even less frequently. 

However, these past few days, Jerome had been returning every day, and each time, he arrived earlier than the day before. 

Jerome glanced upstairs and asked, “Is Mikayla back?” 

Amy nodded. “Madam came back very early and has been upstairs the whole time.” 

Jerome headed upstairs. 

Mikayla’s bedroom door was slightly ajar, and the sounds of typing on the computer 

echoed from within. 

Jerome intentionally cleared his throat. 

In a short while, the keyboard’s click–clacking ceased, making way for the approaching footsteps that grew louder by the door. 

Jerome straightened up, prepared for Mikayla to open the door with her usual joyful greeting, asking why he had come home so early. 

However, Mikayla slammed the door shut. 

A click sound was heard soon after. 

Mikayla had even locked the door! 

“Mikayla!” Jerome couldn’t help but angrily shout. 

But Mikayla remained indifferent, completely ignoring him. 

Jerome felt a lump in his threat. After waiting for a few seconds, he stormed off to the study. 

He spent a good half–hour in the study, but Milenyla didn’t emerge from her room. 

There were no signs of her coming out to greet him, offering coffee, or engaging in the casual chatter. 

Feeling the air in the study was stuffy, Jerome headed downstairs. 

“Sir, are you going out? Dinner is ready,” Amy informed. 

Jerome remained silent, his face darkened as he sat at the dining table. Amy spoke softly, “I’ll go get Madam.” 

Shortly after, Mikayla, dressed in casual home attire, came down with Amy, 

Mikayla appeared to be in good spirits, exchanging a few laughs with Amy as they came 

down. 

Seeing her like this, Jerome felt the pent–up frustration rising again. 

At first, he had expected Mikayla to still be affected by the emotions of the previous night, but it turned out she was entirely indifferent to the situation, 

“Madam, I’ve made lamb chops with boiled potatoes, steamed broccoli, and curly kale. These are all rich in iron. Please remember to eat more,” Amy said. 

“Sure, thanks, Mrs. Amy. Why don’t you join us for the meal?” Mikayla invited. 

Amy shook her head. “No, Madam. I have food in the kitchen.” 

Jerome furrowed his brows. “Is there something wrong with your health?”
