Chapter 237
Mikayla only found Jerome’s words of concern to be hypocritical. So, she pursed her lips and remained
silent.
“What else could have happened? It was either caused by gravel or shattered glass,” said the doctor.
Jerome thought of something. “Was it caused by the gravel from the trash can?”
Mikayla remained silent while the doctor continued to blame her.
“Miss, how could you be so careless when you knew you were injured? The scab had just formed, but the wounds are now bleeding again. You’ll just prolong your injury.”
“It’s my fault. I didn’t know her hand was injured and grabbed it roughly.” Jerome took the blame for her.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and glanced up at him. “Are you her husband? You don’t even realize your wife is injured?”
Jerome, who had always been aloof and arrogant, felt embarrassed.
He cleared his throat. “The situation was quite urgent at that time.”
“So you were at the scene, but you didn’t even know how your wife was injured?” The doctor was even more surprised. “What else could be more important than your wife?”
Jerome was left dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say. Mikayla, on the other hand, felt a little happy.
She would’ve defended him in the past. But now, she only thought he deserved it!
“Miss, did you agree to an arranged marriage to appease your elders? Is that why you two don’t have feelings for each other?” asked the doctor.
Mikayla smiled lightly. “You could say that.”
Although it wasn’t an arranged marriage. Jerome did marry her to please Wanda.
Though, it was true that he really did have no feelings for her.
“Are you here to treat the patient or to gossip?” Jerome frowned and asked the doctor. “Shouldn’t you try to work efficiently?”
The doctor glanced at him again.
Seeing his figure and extraordinary presence, he whispered to Mikayla, “Miss, you shouldn’t find a
husband who’s just good–looking. You have to find someone who cares about you.”
His voice was low, but Jerome wasn’t deaf.
His expression darkened, and he said coldly, “If you don’t finish treating her wound within five minutes, would you believe I’ll get your medical license revoked?”
The doctor fell silent.
He could tell that he couldn’t afford to mess with Jerome. So, he stopped gossiping and quickly applied some medicine on Mikayla’s palm.
Five minutes later, the doctor re–bandaged her wound. She thanked him and left the doctor’s office.
Jerome followed her silently. Mike was no longer in the passenger seat when they returned to the car.
“Mr. Ashford said that he needed to deal with something urgent in the company, so he left first,” said the driver.
