Chapter 248
After hanging up, Mikayla lay on the big bed in her hotel room.
She still felt a little frightened when she remembered what had happened earlier. Fortunately, Eduard wasn’t injured, or she would have blamed herself to death.
After lying there for a while, she received a message from Mike.
“Unblock my number.”
From the tone and content, Mikayla could tell it was from Jerome.
She had blocked his number after hanging up his call that night. There’s no way she’d unblock him.
Mikayla only felt annoyed when she saw Jerome’s text. If it weren’t for his unwillingness to divorce her, Kylie wouldn’t have plotted against her repeatedly.
He dialed her hotel room number after she refused to respond. She was irritated and unplugged the phone line to silence the noise.
After that, Mikayla thought about her plans before showering and going to bed. Amid her slumber, she
heard her room door unlock.
“Thanks.” Then, she heard Jerome thank someone softly. She was startled and immediately sat up from
the bed.
Jerome had indeed shown up in front of her. He was in the same suit she had seen on Eduard’s video call. He was carrying a small briefcase and appeared to have got here hastily.
“W–why are you here?” Mikayla stammered. Why did Jerome come to Lakeville at this hour?
He calmly set down the small briefcase, removed his coat, and hung it in the closet. He moved around as naturally as if a husband had returned home.
“Why would the staff let you in?” Mikayla returned to her senses and asked coldly.
Jerome answered calmly, “We’re married. I only needed to show my marriage certificate to the receptionists and register myself. They opened the door for me then.”
She smiled sarcastically. In the past, she was the one who took the marriage certificate everywhere to declare her sovereignty. She never expected Jerome to do the same thing.
“So, why are you here?” Mikayla sounded impatient.
Jerome said nothing. He approached her, ignored her cold eyes, and took her injured left hand.
The scabs had almost healed, and new skin had regenerated on the wound. However, Mikayla used too much force when picking up the traffic cone. It caused slight redness and swelling on the new skin.
“Why didn’t you tell me about the accident?” Jerome asked with an unclear expression. His low, cold tone
seemed to reveal a sense of concern.
