Jerome hung up the phone angrily yesterday, claiming he’d divorce Mikayla when he got back and warning her not to regret it. 

Logically, they wouldn’t cross paths again until he returned. Why was he still contacting her? 

When she answered the phone, there was silence on the other end. 

“Jerome?” Mikayla called out doubtfully. He remained silent. 

“Is there no signal? If you don’t say anything, I’ll hang up.” She was about to hang up when she heard Jerome’s cough. 

“Mikayla, I’m hungry.” 

Then, his slightly hoarse voice came. 

Recalling his Instagram post, Mikayla was a little speechless. “It’s pointless to call me. You can buy 

something to eat if you’re hungry.” 

He coughed a few more times and responded hoarsely, “I remember you’ve shown off an exclusive secret recipe for making gruel delicious.” 

Showing off? That was sharing. 

Mikayla didn’t retort to him but asked, “So?” 

“Tell me the recipe. I’d like to do it.”

But he sounded weak. He must have been starving before calling her.

dishes over there were. 

Mikayla didn’t bother to argue with him about the past. “I’ll send you the recipe later.” 

He became silent again. She assumed he found it troublesome and added, “Don’t worry. It’s very simple. Anyone with a pair of hands can make it.”

When she was about to hang up, he called her again. 

“Anything else?” 

Mikayla didn’t hear Jerome’s response when she asked, but she noticed his increased breathing. 

She wondered what he wanted to do, but he didn’t say anything or hang up. So, she decided to ignore
