Jerome cast a glance at Mikayla. She looked like she didn’t want anything to do with him and he thought she was upset about what happened just now. 

“I will ask Mike to investigate their companies and make them leave the industry. They won’t have the chance to offend you anymore in the future.” 

Mikayla said, “You don’t need to go through the trouble. Or else they will think that I am useless and only know how to throw my weight around.” 

Jerome felt that those words sounded quite familiar. He remembered he once said those words to Mikayla and only then realized that Mikayla was actually angry at him. 

Jerome compressed his lips and changed the topic. He asked, “What’s your purpose in bringing Ms. Holmes of Ansoft Enterprise here to this occasion?” 

“Why can’t I bring Betty here?” Mikayla retorted. “It wasn’t her who did something wrong.

went through her husband’s betrayal and bravely shouldered the burden of Ansoft Enterprise. Not many people have this kind of courage. Is there any wrong with me trying to help her?” 

Jerome stared at Mikayla. “Do you really have no other purposes for inviting her?” 

Mikayla wore high heels today to match the dress and it shortened the height difference between Jerome 

and her. 

Her gaze could meet Jerome’s just by raising her head slightly. “Don’t worry. Even if I have other purposes, they won’t do any harm to the Miller Group.” 

Jerome fell silent. 

As the banquet started, the emcee said the opening remarks. 

The spokesperson of the Miller Group delivered a speech and expressed his gratitude. Jerome also made a brief speech. 

After that were the dining and dancing sessions. 

The first dance was danced by Jerome and Mikayla. 

Kylie sat aside and quietly watched as Jerome laid his hand on Mikayla’s slender waist. 

They were like a loving couple dancing gently on the dance floor. 

When Kylie thought of Jerome questioning her about the photos this morning, a thin smile appeared on her face. She wouldn’t let things get out of control. 

She looked at the time and accepted a man’s invitation to dance. 

On the dance floor, the guests were dancing to the melodious music. The atmosphere was quite lively. 

But Mikayla was trying to shake Jerome’s hand off her waist. 

Although social dancing would definitely bring them closer, she felt that Jerome was holding her waist too tight. 

Jerome’s entire palm was pressing on her lower back. It made her have to secretly put some effort to keep some distance from him. 

But she would get closer to him again whenever she got slightly distracted. 

“Try to wriggle again, Mikayla.” 

Before Mikayla could object, Jerome said in a hoarse voice, “You have to look at the occasion even if you 

want to seduce me.” 

Her slender waist was soft and tender. Jerome could also smell her unique fragrance from time to time. Yet she was restlessly wriggling around and it was pure torture for him. 

Mikayla was confused. “Let me go. I don’t want to dance anymore.” 

She wanted to leave. 

But Jerome was still holding her. “You have to finish the dance. It’s your responsibility as Mrs. Miller.”
