Chapter 121
Carlisle chatted with his grandfather for more than half an hour. At around 10:00 pm, Mike showed up
with a bunch of other students to conduct a spot check on the dorm. Everyone silently lined up in two
neat rows.
Smiling. Mike said to Carlisle, “I bet the total bill for both our tables wasn’t cheap.”
Carlisle said indifferently, “It wasn’t that much.”
Mike approached him and patted him on the shoulder. “Looks like you’re quite well–off, then. Starting
tomorrow, I want you to pay me 20 bucks as a protection fee!”
Kelvin lowered his head and snickered. It was obvious that Mike was trying to push Carlisle’s buttons.
He’d like to see how long Carlisle could handle it. If he couldn’t stand it, Mike would give him a beating.
If he could, he’d have to pay Mike the protection fee. And once he couldn’t afford to pay the fee any longer, Mike would still give him a beating!
Carlisle gnashed his teeth and frowned. He asked, “What are the benefits of paying you?”
Mike grinned. “Once you pay me, I’ll protect you. No one on campus will dare lay a hand on you!”
Carlisle pointed at Kelvin. “That’s exactly what he did earlier.”
Kelvin snorted. “Idiot. Don’t you know I’m on Mike’s side?”
Mike frowned. “Kelvin gives me 800 dollars a month.”
His meaning was clear. If Carlisle could give Mike more than that, Mike would avenge him. Without even blinking an eye, Carlisle pulled out the 1000 dollars Wanda had given him from under his pillow.
Mike took the money and turned to smile at Kelvin. “What do you think?”
Kelvin looked glum. “I only get 3000 dollars a month, Mike. I’m almost out of money now…”
When the semester started, the students generally had to spend more money to pay fees or buy books. Besides, Kelvin had spent quite a sum on Sarah. He’d also treated many people to meals over the past few days so he could expand his network.
All he had left was 200 dollars. There was still around half a month until he would get the following month’s allowance. He even had to think of a way to borrow some money to tide him over for the month!
Mike shrugged. “That’s that, then. Go ahead and do what you must, Carlisle. If he dares retaliate, I’ll get him for you!”
With that, he shut the door behind him and waited for them to move. Carlisle gave Kelvin an icy look. “Are you gonna continue with your obnoxious act?”
“N–No. Don’t beat me up, Carl,” Kelvin said nervously.
“Switch to a different dorm. I don’t want to see you around.” Carlisle sat on his bed.
Chapter 12
“Alright. I’ll get on it tomorrow!” Kelvin hurriedly said. He was the type that bullied the weak and feared the strong.
