The Anderson family, like the Turner family, had more sons than daughters in every generation. If the Anderson family had a daughter, Antonio wouldn't have had to protect Penelope at all.
Selena was brought back to her senses by Antonio's words and temporarily put aside her doubts, continuing to scroll down with a smile.
Newborns, ten-day-olds, one-month-olds... these beautiful little babies looked different every day, becoming more delicate as they grew. The only thing that didn't change much was their expression.
Although such young children wouldn't have any particularly noticeable expressions, their coldness was still evident.
Selena stopped at a photo and asked, "When was this taken?"
Antonio glanced at the picture Selena had stopped at. It was a small figure made of snow jade, dressed in exquisite black clothes and a black cap, with a long face and long eyelashes, and a pair of black eyes that seemed to see through everything.
The little guy sat on a blanket, holding his arms and expressionless. Although his face was young and innocent, everyone could sense his contempt.
"This was taken when he was one year old. His mother dressed him up a bit, but you see his expression? He looks like he's owed a million dollars by someone," Antonio said.
"Was Osvaldo so lacking in childishness when he was young?" Selena asked, blinking.
"He wasn't lacking in childishness, he didn't have any!" Antonio said with a black face. "Apart from crying when he was born, I never heard him shout once in his childhood!"
"When he was three years old, he had a high fever in the middle of the night one winter. His mother went to wake him up in the morning, but he didn't respond. Finally, his father went to lift his blanket, and he just said calmly, 'I'm probably sick.' Listen, can a child with a fever of 39 degrees say that?"
Selena was speechless.
She remembered when she was a child, even a small cut would make her cry and cause a commotion in the whole family. She silently lowered her head.
"On his fourth birthday, I bought him a Transformers model. Guess what he said to me?" Antonio seemed to recall something and his face grew even darker.
"What did he say?" Selena was curious.
"He looked at me disdainfully and said, 'Grandpa, you're so childish.' " Antonio raised his eyebrows in anger. "I'm so old, and I'm being called childish by a four-year-old brat."
Selena remembered when she was ten years old, holding onto her mother's neck and saying she wanted to be her good baby forever.
She lowered her head and continued flipping through the album.
It was like going through the footprints of Osvaldo's growth, page by page, watching him go from a beautiful child to a handsome and cold young boy.
Selena turned to another page and a picture suddenly caught her eye. She froze in place, "This is...?"
The picture showed a delicate and handsome young boy in black clothes with black hair, looking cold and indifferent.
She frowned.
Antonio looked over and sneered, "That's him at the age of twelve, his mother took the photo. This kid never lacked love since he was a child, but somehow he's become more and more 'heartless and unfeeling' as he grows up..."
Selena stared at the refined features of the young boy, feeling a faint sense of familiarity.
