"The Turner family's external power has been taken away, but the accumulation of generations is still there," Selena said.
"You are the truest and most prestigious heiress in the capital," someone told her.
Selena was a bit surprised by this statement. She didn't consider herself a true member of the Turner family, so she didn't have much feeling for their wealth. Furthermore, it felt odd for her to focus on archaeology when she was dedicated to scientific research.
"I know, Matilda. You can tell them that I will personally receive them and won't make things difficult for them," Selena replied with a nod.
Matilda understood her attitude and promised, "The court master asked me to tell you that District 6 won't let you suffer."
Selena smiled as Matilda left. She stood up and looked towards the direction of Central City. Her biggest difference from Lillian was her identity: Lillian was the governor of Central City while Selena was just an heiress from a noble family in the capital. Without 717 backing her up, Lillian could easily pressure Selena into submission with Central City's influence.
The gap between them... was indeed quite large.
Selena looked up at the sky above her head and wondered what her father was thinking about all this.
In the evening, Osvaldo returned home.
He accompanied Selena to dinner and then took her to the basement for training.
Before going to bed, Osvaldo stared at Selena for a while, kissed her forehead, and said, "Selena, don't be afraid."
Selena smiled slightly. "It's okay."
Osvaldo turned off the lights and slept with Selena in his arms.
