As a result of the shock, Victoria was on her nerves all day long.
Once she arrived home, it was dark. She behaved like a frightened bird even at the door and even in her own bedroom. Once the lights flickered, she would scream and dash to the door.
"Vicky, it's okay, it's okay, don't be nervous, we're already home!"
Trevor held her in his arms, not daring to loosen his hold on her the slightest. Stroking her hair, he comforted her in a soft voice. "Don't be afraid. No one will hurt you again!"
"Trevor, I just saw...the door moving. Is there anyone in the room? Look, is someone hiding behind the door? The bathroom, the bathroom..."
With her fingers clasping the back of her hand, Victoria didn't have the courage to turn around. Her face was buried in his arms like an injured animal on pins and needles.
Shaking his head, he was about to say "no" when he was reminded of her current situation. She would probably not be able to hear a word he said. Caressing her hair, Trevor turned to say.
"Don't be afraid! I'll go check it out. Shall we close the windows and doors?"
Nodding, Victoria grabbed onto him tightly with one hand as her eyes drifted to and fro. Leading her to a corner, Trevor locked all the ventilation windows from the inside and banged them to create a loud sound so that she could hear it clearly. Even if the window was closed, he insisted on walking over to check if it was locked in calming her down.
Sure enough, after going around the room, she loosened the grip on his sleeves slightly.
Seeing her body stained with blood, Trevor found it exceptionally frightening although he knew that it wasn't hers!
"Are you hungry? Go take a shower and change your clothes. I'll get some food prepared for you! "
Just as Trevor got onto his feet to get her her pajamas, Victoria followed suit the moment he moved, frantically calling out, "Honey, don't go! I...I'm afraid!”
With her body all curled out, she subconsciously reached out to feel her neck. The vivid memory of the suffocation imprinted in her mind, all the more surreal as if she could die at any moment.
"OK! I won't leave you! Take a bath, and I'll stay with you!"
After filling the bathtub with warm water, Trevor sat outside the door as he talked to her so that she could know that he was there. At the same time, he decided against invading her personal space so that she could take a bath with ease.
On the phone, he texted the servants, ordering them to bring Victoria food and medicine. The second he was lost in doing so, Victoria's panicky voice sounded from within the bathroom.
"Honey, are you there?"
"Yes, I'm not leaving! Don't worry. Calm down.
Take your time so that you won't fall..."
With every sentence, Trevor's heart ached with pain. He had always felt that he was strong, but ever since he got to know her, she seemed to have always been injured, yet, there was nothing he could do about it. In the eyes of outsiders, she might be deeply blessed by the heavens with all her needs and wants fulfilled, but was there anyone that could survive what she had been through?
While he was deep in thought, the bathroom door banged open. In the next split second, Victoria emerged, running with her hair dripping water. It was merely a few steps, but she was out of breath, which implied how anxious she was.
Right then, the servants served a pizza and a cup of warm drink. Trevor handed a glass of milk to her and urged, "Drink some milk. It helps calm you down!"
As the servant accompanied her, Trevor took a bath towel and a hairdryer over to wrap her hair into a bun. He then proceeded to retrieve a piece of the wet tissue and wiped her hand.
"Are you hungry? Have some pizza!"
After taking a piece and stuffing it into her hands, Trevor picked one up. They two had a simple meal.
Seeing her gobbling the food, he poured some warm water, though he doubted her enjoying the food.
After getting the time to relax, Victoria's mood eased. As time passed, the clear strangulation marks on her neck were revealed. The thick marks seemed to be a result of fingers or clothes tightly wrapped around her neck.
If that person hadn't done it on purpose, he must have been very nervous back then!
Lost in thought, Trevor dared not probe into it. Next, he dried her hair before applying ointment to her bruises.
That night, Victoria tossed and turned. Whenever she closed her eyes, she would be frightened awake. Trevor accompanied her and managed to only get a quick doze by then time dawn broke...
The next day, Trevor accompanied her in recording the official testimony and identifying the scene before leaving.
In the car, Victoria clasped her fingers, evidently nervous.
"How could there be no traces of the place being broken into? He was an adult that could easily be spotted! Wasn't he trying to steal or rob by breaking into the studio during broad daylight?"
How could there be such a foolish thief?
"What are these policemen doing? Would I lie? Anthony is still lying in the hospital!" Victoria fumed. She was constantly required to recall the nightmare and record testimonies, but in the end, the officials came to such a conclusion.
"Hubby, they wouldn't try to dismiss this issue, would they? That studio is located in the outskirts, and since it is constantly troubled by security issues, would they try to use this excuse in dismissing the issue?!"
Since she had been rescued, would that person come to hunt her down in the future?
Once the thought flitted through her mind, Victoria instantly turned around, while Trevor raised his hand and pressed it on her head, "Do not worry! It's a felony to rob and break into private properties, not to mention how there are casualties from the incident. The police dare not slack off! Even if they do, I won't let it slide! I will definitely arrest this person within a week! Don't worry!"
"All right!"
