This is our love. This is our journey. Our journey to learning love.
10 years later:
"Buckle up!" Kezr said fastening Isaiah's helmet. He tapped on his helmet and picking him up he put him on his bike.
"Now do you remember the rules Isa?" Kezr crouched down to Isaiah's height and brushed the fallen strands of his hair from his forehead.
"Yes daddy. Rule 1, take care of Lexy and don't let her fall. Rule 2, don't be afraid. Rule 3, make you proud." My 10 year old son repeated what Kezr had told him about 50 times in the past 5 minutes.
Kezr ruffled Isaiah's hair and patted his shoulder. He turned to Alexis, our 4 year old daughter who was standing there awkwardly.
"Come Lexy." She shook her head and slowly stepped back.
"Lexy." Kezr said in a stern voice and she stopped but ducked her head down. Her hair working as a little curtain for her.
"I-Iam scared daddy." Sighing, Kezr went to her and picked her up. He settled her on his hip and pinched her cheeks.
"What's my little lexy scared about? Hmm?" She leaned in and placed her head in his neck sighing and sniffing.
Iam not the only one obsessed with his Cologne. Good to know.
"Wh-what if I fall? I'll get hurt. Iam scared. Daddy don't make me go. Please." Lexy said clutching his shirt tightly and playing with his hair with her other hand.
He rubbed her back up and down and pushed her head back so she could look at him.
"What did I always tell you about fear?" Kezr asked while stroking her black hair which she got from me.
"T-that fear is meant to be overcome" Alexis said and Kezr put her down and crouched to her. Taking both her hands in his, he spoke.
"Exactly. Now go bike riding with your brother and remember, you do it, you get a surprise."
Her eyes instantly lightened up at the name of the so called surprise. She nodded her head eagerly and clasped her tiny hands around his neck, hugging him.
"Have fun... Okay?" She nodded her head and smiled at her older brother who was all settled and ready to go.
Kezr brought her training cycle and fixed her shoes on the paddle and buckled her helmet.
