A Date?
Kelly’s POV
“You have a meeting with the model we want to hire for our products, Miss Kelly. After that, you have a meeting with the design team.”
I nodded at Yara while we’re walking towards my office. I just finished my second meeting for today and I’m already tired. This day would drain all of my energy. This is harder than I expected. Of course, I know how the business industry works but I’ve been resting for so long that going back to being an executive is tiring. I need to adjust to my new life and I know it won’t be easy.
I sat on my swivel chair, the same time my phone rang. I answered the call. “Hello, Emily.
[I’m taking Snow on a lunch date.]
I smiled, “Sure.”
[But please…tell her nanny that I don’t have a budget for her. Why tag along?]
I chuckled. “Let her be, Emily. Ana will take good care of her-*
[No, thanks! Just call her now because I left her in your condo. I’m in the car with Snow. Hey, love, say hello to mommy…]
I smiled even more after I heard my daughter’s voice. I’m glad I have someone I can trust when it comes. to taking care of Snow. At least I won’t be that worried whenever I’m at work. I can work properly because of my newly found friends
My whole day was very busy. After my last meeting for today, I went back to my office again, exhausted. It was already 5 PM and I already informed Ana that I’m coming home late tonight. I was about to go straight to my swivel chair when I saw someone sitting on the couch and he’s watching me while I’m stretching my arms and neck.
My lips parted as I stood before his eyes awkwardly. When he chuckled, I felt my cheeks burn.
He pulled himself up and folded the sleeves of his polo. “You’re exhausted. Glad I came here to bring you some food. I bet you’re starving.”
I cleared my throat and bit my lower lip. I walked towards him while he’s preparing the food he brought for me.
“Why are you here, Pierce?”
He glanced at me and smiled again, “Mom cooked me food and I thought of bringing it here so we could eat together. I couldn’t eat them all. It’s too much.”
I glanced at the food in the food container. It looks very delicious and I admit I missed his mom’s cooking
“So…” He trailed and tilted his head. “Do you….wanna eat with me? It’s just a…friendly dinner.”
I smiled at him and nodded. “Yeah. Sure.”
Pressing my lips together, I sat on the couch across from him. He looked nervous while preparing our food and I don’t know why he’s the one who’s nervous when I’m actually the one who should be because I’m hiding something..
He probably thought I wouldn’t agree, but I’m not really heartless when it comes to him. After all these years, I realize that even when I got mad at him, I couldn’t blame him because he didn’t tell me to love
him. He didn’t know that I have feelings for him even before we got married and it intensified after he showed me how he is as a husband. He was caring. He was loving. He never gave me mixed signals because from the very beginning, he made it clear to me that I was just a best friend in his eyes…I just hoped. I dreamed… of something I thought beyond my Imagination but seeing him now. His sincerity, the effort, the worry and care… I don’t know if I can still last, ignoring his feelings when I can see him still trying to pursue us.
I was beyond broken and I don’t wanna trust easily again, but I also know that running away won’t do me any good. I have to face the truth. I have to face my feelings. Soon.
“Let’s eat?”
I nodded at him. He was actually the one who put food on my plate before he handed it to me. I accepted it while looking at his face.
He looked at me as we started eating, “You’re very busy. How’s your company?”
I shrugged my shoulders and sighed. “Tiring.”
He smiled. “You’ll get used to it again.”
I
“I hope so. How ‘bout your company? I heard ADE is now at the highest peak of success.”
He chuckled and shook his head. “That won’t happen without your help before. You’re the business prodigy here. You taught me well.”
I felt flattered because of what he said but I chuckled at his compliment. “That’s too much.”
“No, really. You deserve the credit. You’re the one who acted like the real president and I’m thankful for
that.”
I stared into his eyes as I smiled. “Thanks.”
He nodded, staring back into my eyes. “Kelly…”
“Hmm?”
“If it’s okay with you…I wanna get close to…Snow.”
I was taken aback. Even when Snow is still inside me, I know that he already loves her. Regardless of her father since he assumed that Klay is her father. When I gave birth to her, I saw how he shed tears. He was so happy. And now that he can see her in the flesh, I know his feelings intensified. Definitely because I know his heart could feel their strong connection even when his mind believed that she’s Klay’s daughter. He licked his lips and looked down. “I know this is too much to ask. I just want to stay in your life even when you don’t want to be with me anymore. Don’t get me wrong! I’m not…using her. I just just feel like seeing her is enough to make me happy.”
He’s giving up on us. I wanted him to do that five years ago, but hearing him say that, I don’t know anymore. My feelings are coming back but my fear is taking the best of me.
I swallowed hard and forced myself to smile. I did everything I could so my smile won’t end up looking fake. And when he smiled happily, I somehow felt relieved and happy.
He wants to be with his daughter. I should really tell him about the truth, but I’m scared.
We were smiling genuinely at each other when the door swung open, Yara entered and behind her was Phoebe whose lips immediately parted after seeing me and her brother together.
Okay…I really think this is…awkward.
“Are you dating in her office, Pierce?” Phoebe shamelessly asked as she showed her smirk.
A Duty
Pierce cursed under his breath. “Don’t give her a reason to kick me out of her life again, Phoebe. Why are you here?”
Phoebe grinned even more. “I was about to ask Kelly to go on a dinner date with me but it seems you got to ask her early.”
Fight For What You Deserve
Kelly’s POV
Phoebe walked towards us and sat on the single couch. Pierce and I are just watching her. She crossed her arms and legs before she smirked again and tilted her head.
Pierce sighed and shook his head. “Stop it, Phoebe. We’re not dating.”
Phoebe’s smile slowly faded. She fixed her eyes on me and when I nodded, disappointment crossed her
eyes.
I sighed. I couldn’t believe her reaction. She looked so sad that I’m not dating her brother. She pressed her lips together and sat on the couch like a sulking child. I had no choice but to leave her at that and just continued eating.
f
Pierce and I couldn’t talk again. He didn’t open another conversation and I didn’t initiate either. After our dinner, he immediately cleaned up.
“…should leave now.”
I nodded at him and smiled. “Thank you for the dinner.”
He gave me a smile too before he turned to Phoebe with a crumpled face. “Let’s go, brat.”
Phoebe shook her head. “I want to bond with Kelly.”
“She’s tired, Phoebe. She needs to rest.
“But I want to be with her. I won’t take long.”
Pierce shook his head and sighed. “I’ll wait for you in the car.”
“Pierce!”
“She has a daughter who’s waiting for her at home, Phoebe. Be responsible.”
Phoebe rolled her eyes. “Fine! Thirty minutes.”
“Fifteen.”
“What? That’s too short!”
“Ten?”
“Fifteen, then.”
I was just biting my lip while watching them. Pierce turned to me again and nodded. I nodded and smiled. back before he left. When he’s gone, Phoebe looked at me and smiled,
“How are you, Kelly?”
I smiled at her. “You didn’t show up for almost a week.”
She frowned and sighed. “I was grounded.”
“Because…” I trailed off. I have a hunch that it’s because of what happened to her because of me.
“Because I lied to them and sneaked out to see Snow while you’re still at that island.”
I took a deep breath. Just as I expected.
“Don’t blame yourself, Kelly. It’s not your fault.”

“Thank you for taking care of her while I was away, Phoebe.” I smiled at her as I stared into her eyes.
