Kelly’s POV What She Needs
Pierce’s POV
I took a deep sigh and scratched my cheek when I saw mom in the dining hall, sitting while watching something on her ipad. My forehead creased after I heard a familiar voice from the ipad.
Mom glanced at me and worry filled her expression. “Son, how’s Snow?”
“She’s fine. What’s that, mom?” I asked curiously and walked towards her. I kissed her cheek before I pressed my palms on the table and stood beside her.
“Look at this, son. This is Lexi’s interview. She suddenly appeared after went missing and she’s telling the media that the issue about Kelly and Klay Carver circulating around the internet is true. She said the child is Klay Carvers.”
I sucked my breath and sat on the chair beside her. “Don’t mind her, mom.”
“Pierce!” Mom looked at me and dropped her ipad on the table. “I can’t ignore this. I treated her well when you’re together and she’s going to do this? I can’t believe her.”
“Mom…”
“No, Pierce! And she’s even dragging my granddaughter in this mess. How immature!”
I stared at mom’s face. She’s worried, I know. “Mom, I know dragging the child in this mess is wrong. I won’t tolerate that, but Snow is indeed Klay Carver’s kid.”
She pressed her lips together and stared at me guiltily.
I shook my head and turned her ipad off. “Don’t mind those people, mom. They’re just too hungry for
issues. And Lexi, I already talked to her.”
“You met her? What if Kelly sees you?”
“She did.”
She gasped. “Son, you can’t make the same mistake as before!”
“Mom, I’m not. I already talked to Kelly and she listened to my explanation this time. She gave me a chance. She wants me to fix my life first before we get back together.”
“Really?”
A hope flickered in my eyes as I smiled and nodded. “Yes, mom. I felt it. Her heart. She made me feel that she loves me. She fell in love with me, mom. It feels…euphoric.
Mom smiled and gently caressed my shoulders.
Kelly is my life and Snow has become my hope. Before, I thought there would be no chance for us
anymore. However, Snow gave me hope. She made me realize that I still have a chance to win this fight without even doing anything.
“She’s calling me daddy,” I whispered happily as I looked at mom again.
“Son…”
“Hmm?”
She held my hand as she sucked her breath as if she’s having a hard time. “What if…Snow is your daughter?”
What She Needs
2/3
I stared at her as my heart skipped a beat. I know there’s a possibility but I know Kelly won’t do that to me.
“Mom, are you afraid my feelings and treatment for Snow will change just because she’s my rival’s child? Mom, I love the kid like my own child. She’s become one of my treasures.”
“No, Pierce. I mean…what if Kelly, like, hid the truth from you because you hurt her and she’s afraid of getting hurt again? What if…Snow is yours and…”
“Mom!” I held her hand and she looked at me worriedly as she sighed and bit her bottom lip.
I know my mom very well. She’s hiding something and she’s trying to make amends for hiding something from me.
I clenched my jaws. “Mom…”
She gasped and let go of my hand. “I’m sorry… I guess I’m just too…paranoid and scared for Snow. I…I’m trying to find a way to bring Kelly back to us.”
I sighed. “I know you’re guilty because of the past, but let me handle this, mom. This happened because of me, anyway. Because I couldn’t figure out my real feelings. Because I was too stupid to let the real love I have go. Now, I’m trying to make things right. Kelly will come back to me. This time not because I need her to fix my broken heart, but because I love her and I want to take care of her forever.”
kissed her cheek again before I went
She nodded and gave me a satisfied smile. I caressed her back upstairs. I took a bath before I dropped my body on the bed and squeezed my eyes closed.
I left Kelly in the hospital with Caleb Walter. I don’t wanna leave her there with that man, but I don’t wanna suffocate her. I don’t want her to feel that she’s not allowed to entertain another suitor just because I’m courting her. She’s still single so it’s just right, but I won’t deny that I feel suffocated whenever another
man’s near her.
I fell asleep and it’s already 7 PM when I woke up. I went downstairs while caressing my neck when I saw Phoebe walking towards the door, wearing short skirts, rubber shoes and a cropped shirt.
“Phoebe!” I called strictly.
She looked my way as I stopped in the middle of the staircase. I pointed at my wristwatch.
She sighed lazily. “I’m just going out with my friends. Dad and mom approved.”
I shot an eyebrow up. “Be sure to be home before midnight.”
“Pierce, I’m an adult!”
“I know,” I said, annoyed as I proceeded down the stairs. “Still, you should be responsible and don’t break mom and dad’s trust.”
I sat on the couch as she looked at me frowning. “You won’t stop me from going out?”
“Why would I?”
-She smirked. “I knew Kelly’s a good influence on you. Got to go. Bye!”
“Call me when you need a ride.”
“Got it! Love you, brother!”
I just smirked and shook my head. I realized she needs freedom too and I trust her. I trust that she won’t do something that can harm her or hurt her.
Mom called for dinner after that and then I went to the company to do some paperwork even though it’s the weekend. It’s already midnight when I got home. I didn’t knock on Phoebe’s door because I trust her,
[Tell me you secured the documents I gave you, Kelly.]
I inserted the flash drive on my new laptop and typed the password I input. The photos of the documents he gave are here. Complete.
“It burned down with my condo unit, Attorney.”
[What? Kelly! That’s the only copy of the investigation file. The investigator died right after your
grandmother died. That’s the only thing we have against your mother’s siblings.]
I smiled bitterly. “That’s why I’m asking for your advice, Attorney. I have nothing against them anymore. Do you know a way to get a copy of the documents? Maybe the investigator still has a copy?”
[There’s no other copy, Kelly. Now, I don’t know how to help you anymore.]
I sighed after he ended the call. I know lying to him is wrong because he’s just trying to help me but I can’t help it. I need to secure everything I have even if it means lying to everyone around me.
“Is something wrong?” That’s Emily, drinking wine.
She took me and Snow to her condo unit. Actually, I declined at it because I can afford another home but she insisted saying it would be dangerous for me and my daughter to find another home knowing that there’s still a threat on my life.
“I just told my grandma’s lawyer that I no longer have the evidence on mom’s case.”
She stared into my eyes. “You don’t trust the attorney?”
I sighed and massaged my forehead. “I don’t know, Emily. I feel like there’s something missing. I mean… there is already enough evidence to put those people involved in my mother’s death behind bars and attorney Lee waited for me. I don’t know why but I feel like something’s wrong.”
She crossed her legs and tilted her head. “Trust your instincts. It will protect you and your daughter.”
I gave her a small smile and nodded. “Thank you, Emily”
She smirked and lifted her wine glass in the air.
I’m so thankful that Emily’s here. She’s one of my support systems and I must admit that without her, I don’t have a strong foundation to fight.
Days passed unexpectedly fast. Attorney Lee didn’t contact me for the past few days and that actually strengthened my doubt on him. Now I’m conducting my own investigation with the help of Luke.
Sitting on my swivel chair in my dad’s company, the door slammed open, revealing Sara Foster with an angry face. Yara, my secretary looked so worried behind her while looking at me. I just nodded at her and she immediately left.
“To whom do I owe this visit?”
