Arrogance…
Kelly’s POV
BIR
Seeing Emily on the hospital bed breaks my heart. She’s the friend and sister I found who helped me when I was struggling to survive and save myself. She made me realize that my life is important and made me see that I still have a chance. That no matter how hard I’ve been through, at the end of my path, there was light waiting to be touched.
Almost a week ago, the argument between me, Matt, Plerce, and Connor and Diane Foster ended when the doctor announced Emily and Mason’s condition. In the end, Mason and Emily woke up but a huge problem arose, shocking me.
Emily lost her memories and what’s worse is she was pregnant and lost her child in the accident. It was painful and so cruel. I didn’t know the whole story behind Emily’s life but I can say that she’s gone through a very hard time.
“Please eat…” Matt begged as he tried to feed Emily.
Emily looked at him with sharp eyes. “Who are you? Did my father send you? Huh?”
Matt shook his head painfully. “No. Your father didn’t send me. I am…your boyfriend.”
“Boyfriend? Are you kidding me? My boyfriend is dead! My father got him killed after he killed my child!” I squeezed my eyes closed and left the room painfully. Something like that happened to her in the past That is why she’s full of hatred. That is why she’s full of bitterness and anger towards the world. That was why…she hates being betrayed.
“She will recover,” Pierce said as he gently pulled me for a hug.
I swallowed hard and nodded. I don’t know what to do again. Our plan was already polished but I don’t think we can execute it now knowing that Emily’s men won’t do anything without her order. Because of what happened, my will to bring down Connor Foster has intensified and because Emily’s in the situation we were left with no other choice but to team up with Klay.
“Will you really be okay if we ask for his help?” Pierce asked gently as he caressed my hand.
I nodded at him. “Yes. I’m more worried about you. You’re not on good terms with him, right?”
He shook his head. “We can set it aside. We have the same goal, Kelly. And to protect you, I’ll do anything. Be it teaming up with the man I’m jealous of or bargaining with the devil.”
I caressed his cheek before my eyes landed on the door next to Emily’s hospital room. Mason’s inside. I haven’t talked to him since he woke up but Matt said he’s fine.
I looked at Pierce. “I wanna talk to him.”
He nodded and smiled. “I’ll wait here.”
I nodded before–I slid the door of Mason’s hospital room. His eyes immediately landed on mine. They’re still cold and angry but I can see guilt and worry kept on resurfacing.
“What are you doing here?” He asked and looked away.
I sighed and sat on the chair beside his bed. “Visiting you.”
“I don’t need a visitor.”
“But I need to visit.”
His forehead was creased when he turned to me again. “You said my father was the reason behind your mother’s death. Why are you still visiting me? I’m the son of the person who got your mom killed.”
“Do you believe me now?” I asked, tilting my head.
He shook his head and laughed sarcastically. “Why would I believe you?”
“Then, do you believe in your twin?”
He was rendered speechless after that. He clenched his jaws and looked away once again. I know it’s hard for him to believe because that would mean you’ll turn your back on the person who raised you. This is not easy for them and I understand it
I pulled myself up and stared at him. “Emily lost her memories and…a child. She doesn’t remember anything. I want to blame you for what happened to her, but I don’t know the whole story.”
He looked at me because of that. His eyes were sharp “You think you’re a good person for not blaming me? Why don’t you blame me? It was my fault. Come on! Blame me! I did that to your friend. I killed her child. I made her lose her memories. Blame me-
I did not let him finish. I slapped him. He stared at me with sharp eyes as his jaws clenched.
I sucked my breath and looked at him with hatred. “If someone will blame you, it should be Emily because you did her wrong. And I hope she won’t forgive you because even after what you did…you’re still proud, selfish and arrogant. She lost her child, Mason. Your twin brother’s child. Just wait until she regains her -consciousness and I’m telling you…she’ll hate you until the very last breath she’d make.”
I turned my back and stormed out of the room after that. I’m still trying to understand at this point but if he still refuses to regret what he did, even if he’s my cousin, I will spend all my money to make him pay for what he did. I’ll put him behind bars with his parents and I swear it in the name of Emily’s dead child
We went home that day after leaving some of Pierce’s hired bodyguards to look after Matt, Mason and Emily. We already talked about meeting Klay tomorrow and I already called him to tell him about it.
I
I was talking to Snow through video call while sitting on the kitchen stool and Pierce’s standing in front of the stove, cooking,
“I love the food here, mommy. Please come here soon with daddy. I’m gonna introduce you to my friends
too!”
I smiled. “You gained friends?”
“Yes! They are Oliver, Liam, Nate, Julian-
“Wait…wait…” Pierce interfered, showing himself on the screen.
“Daddy!”
Pierce’s eyes squinted. “Did I hear boys‘ name, princess?”
Snow giggled. “They are my friends, daddy. They are so kind to me.”
