Chapter 10
Despite my protests and begging for mercy, the two burly guards dragged me to the secluded woods, scaring the hell out of me.
Fear became a tangible, living force that clawed over my senses, holding me captive as I saw a group of tall, big men there.
They circled me on Melody’s order, forcing me down on my knees. The dark clouds covering the sky made the evening look like night. The gusts of cool wind broke out goosebumps over my skin as Melody appeared before my sight.
Her hourglass–like figure was adorned with a stylish red gown, she flicked her blonde hair
and sneered.
“Finally, I got a chance to settle the score today.”
Staring at her wide–eyed, I gasped in disbelief.
“How could you…This is a life!”
Crossing her arms over her chest, she cut me off mid–sentence, hissing at me.
“If it wasn’t for Leo, you think I would waste my time, pretending to be friendly a fat cow
like you?”
She then eyed those intimidating guards, one look from her and those guys knew how and what to do. I heard the rustle of leaves as someone crouched down behind me, and before I could register, a large hand covered my mouth.
A wave of sheer panic washed over me, raising fine hair on my nape as two men knelt down, balling their fists.
I squirmed against the hold with full force, “Please let me go!”
But the hand firmly placed on my mouth didn’t let me scream, fixing me to my spot. As on a
cue,
those two men started pounding on me, aiming at my stomach.
No!

Chapter 10
I couldn’t let them hurt my baby!
The white–hot, blistering pain cut through every cell of my existence as I fought like hell, taking the rain of powerful blows on my chest. Despite my struggle, some punches landed on my belly, making me scream.
Shoot! I was bleeding!
Unable to
suppress the growing fear of losing my baby, I cried out, “Please somebody help me and my baby!”
As the guard’s hand slipped from my mouth due to squirming, my painful shrieks resonated in the forest, satisfying Melody. She asked her minions to hit me harder.
I was withering in pain when Melody’s cell phone rang, she raised her hand to stop this assault. Receiving the call, she put it on the speaker:
“Hello, babe.”
Melody switched to a honey–sweet voice in a split second, changing her colors faster than a chameleon. She was talking to Leo as I heard him on the other end.
Yes, Leo!
My baby’s father!
No matter how much he hated me, I was sure that he would never allow such an inhumane method to hurt me.
Gathering every speck of my strength left in my body, I screamed as loud as I could, hoping that Leo would come to save me after hearing my piteous cries.
However, it was just my wishful thinking!
Melody mocked with a suggestive wiggle of her eyebrows, as Leo sounded annoyed in
response.
“Who the hell is screaming over there, Melody? Where are you?”
Melody shot a sardonic glance at me and said,
Chapter 10
“Oh, Laura is playing games, complaining that she’s been under a lot of pressure lately and needs to vent.”
Surprisingly, Leo didn’t suspect her lame excuse and questioned seriously.
“I’m thinking of reinstating her. What do you think, Melody? At least she’ll give me a child.?”
Melody’s face turned pale as she said coquettishly, “You know I get a headache whenever I see her. Or do you actually like having her around when we’re… intimate? You’re so bad, but that sounds good.”
Leo laughed and replied casually, “Well, in that case, just leave her at home.”
No! I wanted to scream, but Melody’s tout placed his hand on my mouth to shush me. I could only cry as after a brief silence, Leo’s smiling voice from the other side turned my world upside down.
Was I wrong?
The rivers of despair streamed down my cheeks as I lost every hope I could cling to, darkening my world.
